Hi all,

I am wondering, is there any way to soften the suspension on a 2025 4Runner Limited Non-Hybrid? It has the AVS suspension.

The ride is stiff, especially at highway speeds 75-80 going over expansion joints and road imperfections.

My theory is that because this is the non-hybrid, it doesn't have the extra weight to soften it up like the hybrid version does.

I'm curious if there are any tips or suggestions. My wife is pregnant and I want to see what I can do to make the commute more comfortable when she rides with me.

That's good and what mine are at. I have similar wheels and tires on a non-hybrid orp, highway feels fine to me.

Change your wheel to a 17 inch wheel and tire if you can. That will soften it up a bit. How many miles do you have on the suspension? It will get a little more comfortable over time.

Yeah then the suspension is pretty much broken in. If you can sell your 18 inch wheels and tires and buy 17 inch wheels and tires, it will feel better. Or you will just have to change your supension. Get some fox 2.0’s for a nice soft ride. I think alldogsoffroad has a kit. It sucks but that may be your best bet.

I just ordered the rear shocks, since this is a limited with AVS I don't think I can do fronts

Good choice. Let us know how much it helps the ride quality. A lot of folks are unhappy with how harsh a lot of the trims are.

It’s the reason why I finally bought a 4Runner. It’s not soft anymore. At highway speeds is when you want a confident suspension. You are in the wrong vehicle if you want a cushy ride

if the avs system is anything like the tundra, there is a pivot arm that should be adjustable to change the suspension setting.

early production runs of the 22/23 tundra had the pivot arm setting incorrectly where the suspension was bottoming out.

there was tsb on it for the 22/23 avs tundra's

I think its configuration is different. Correct me if I’m wrong but in Tundra, AVS is combined with air bags, and I thought the TSB actually had more to do with the air setup than the AVS part of it.

On 4Runner, AVS seems to be front-only, and no air setup.

i’ve noticed the suspension has really softened up on my and im still on the 20in tires. just passed 6500 miles. id say just give it a little more time… but i also have the trial hunter engine skid plate on mine, and a rhino rack 3/4 on the back maybe that contributes

This does not solve your specific problem but the suspension in mine is fine all around although it does notice where cracks have been filled with that liquid tar. But at 25 mph.
It definitely is body on frame characteristics.
Setting is comfort. Pressure 34/35
Tires are 20" Dunlop.
Two qualifiers, I'm not pregnant, Don't think I have ever driven this thing over 65 mph.
Congrats on your pending new family member.
