Looking for some recommendations for recovery gear I know of ARB and have looked at their products not familiar with all the other brands out there. I am looking for a kit with soft shackles, recovery ropes etc. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Those prices for a light suv recovery set are insane. Much more economical recovery gear that will hold up just fine.

I've had great success with the Fiery Red kinetic line products

Harbor Freight Badlands line has recovery gear for HF prices, and they seem to work ok.

Good recovery gear isn't cheap, and cheap gear raises the risk factor for catastrophic failure. I would hate to have a chinesium steel shackle fly through my windshield and send me to the next world.

I'm looking at this kit/pack from Safe Xtract, although it isn't 'cheap' by any means. The value seems there for the 4x soft shackles, 2x tow straps, and kinetic recovery rope.

I don't mean this in a rude way at all, but skimping on recovery equipment after paying up for a TRD PRO is ironic. Simple edits of your comment unveil the irony.

I totally get it, those cheaper amazon ropes might get the job done and never fail. Just like an SR5 will follow any 4Runner trim through most trails. I'm in the camp that will not cheap out on this category of mods/accessories/gear. Buy from a reputable company that can back their products with testing results.

Just my .02.

what i dont see is a recovery weighted blanket to drape over the tow line in case it snaps.

preferred method is 2 about 1/3 from both ends

Because I'm not running an off road recovery business, I landed on:

ARB 705 LB snatch strap
Factor55 7/16 soft shackles x 2
Factor 55 hitchlink

No offense, and at one time I'd agree, and if your using it on a regular basis in the most severe applications go ahead and spend the money. But if your using it on a mid size SUV occasionally to snatch yourself or buddy out of a mud hole these new kinetics are more than enough without breaking the bank.

Here's a pretty balanced look at modern kinetic ropes.

Absolutely true. I was really focused on the hardware. A decent rated kinetic will do. But the hard points and what you're actually tugging on is where I recommend spending the real money.

I think this goes without saying, but in case someone random researching goes scrolling through here. DON'T HOOKUP TO A TOW BALL. bad things happen. Get the proper hardware.

In regard to my comment about testing, Factor55 has rigorously tested the hitch links and their other hardware. I was a sucker for their product the minute I watched that video.

Please don't go putting Amazon tow hooks or hard shackles on your cars and have someone come snatch you out. Their good deed might result in crap metal through their windshield.

Happy Snatching!

FWIW, I bought this kit off Amazon to merely supplement/accompany the winches that I have on my GMC truck and 4Runner. It was less than $300, and it hasn’t been used yet! I’ve pulled a kid out of a ditch and my neighbor out when he was stuck, and all I needed was the winch. You never know when the soft shackles or something else will come in handy though. Peace of min, I guess….

And don't forget a good set of recovery boards and a shovel; that might be your best friend!

Just purchased a set of Maxtrax Lites for $135 during the Prime Day sale. My Runner will pretty much only see sand as far as off-roading goes, so these should be more than sufficient for my use case.

I was gonna go cheap and get some knock-offs for half the price, but figured, what the hell

Way to go,
getting stuck is not fun when you're miles from the nearest help. That happened to us out in the Mojave. Recovery boards saved us.
Also one of the golden rules is always go with a two-car Caravan.
Solo running is fine if you have a good winch and hopefully you find something that you can strap on too. Winches do no good when there is nothing to strap onto. Happy trails.
