Also the pic where they said it happened wasn’t that narrow. So this story that someone was passing seems curious. My guess, not paying attention and dropped wheel off side of road.

We've met traffic on this trail and the wife/passenger of the vehicle coming up the mountain (outside side of the trail) got out of their vehicle and cried the whole time we were passing each other. Our jeep was close to tipping over as we climbed up the side of the mountain to make enough room for them to pass by. Not fun meeting traffic on this trail.

well it really didnt do it job correctly. it unlatched unless the installer didnt install the latching mechanism correctly.

it shouldnt have unlatched.
