I know there’s an existing thread related to this topic but thought I’d initiate a new one to gear more towards my own experience installing it.

I completed the OEM onboard compressor "tire inflator" (part number # PT949-89241) install on my TRD ORP Hybrid yesterday and thankfully everything went smoothly. Removing all the required panels took less than 20 mins and the install itself was probably 2-2.5 hours tops.

The Ed Martin Toyota install video of this unit on YouTube came in clutch and I probably watched and studied it 3-4 times before I attempted the install.

Although it was a pricier option than some of the aftermarket offerings, I’m totally appreciative of the OEM integration and functionality for my needs and purpose. Overall, I’m very pleased with how everything turned out!

DIY how-to install video:

Looks great. Since I have a non-hybrid I need to change the panel too. Unless someone can show me it’s possible to do it with the open panel on the TRD ORP

Great info and good job on the install. (y) Good to be able to see all that exposed.

Wonder if you can just get the bracket to use for an ARB single to mount there?

Good question. It would be one thing to get the ARB to fit, and a whole other thing to get it to work with the control panel. That’s way above my skill level, but would be interested to see a professional/expert make it come to fruition.

Nice job on the install, Do you have any tips for cutting the panel? The one in the video looks like they buggered it up some in the corners, yours look super clean. 👍🏻

side note, does anyone think some added dyno mat around the sub in the quarters would be of any benefit?

Thank you! Honestly, this is part of the install where I wish I could have done a cleaner job myself, but as long as you don’t cut too large of a hole, the trim piece is pretty forgiving.

Having said that, I used a rotary tool with a 1.5” dia cutting disc to do the majority of the trim, but it does get a little tricky in the rounded corner areas. Also, if the cutting speed is too high, the plastic is gonna melt so you need to be aware of that and take your time. So in the corners, I used a 1/4” drill bit and drilled multiple holes right next to each other to get the general shape of the corners and facilitate the rest of the trim. Like the tech did in the video, you’ll need to locally notch the areas common to the four mounting screw locations for the trim piece to fit properly (I just used a round file).

If I had to do it again, I may have considered using a cutting bit instead of a disc though, but it’s all personal preference.

I'm waiting and hoping someone else will be the guinea pig on alternate locations to install the faceplate unit for these. The factory location is the perfect spot to get blocked by cargo. And if you have a drawer system like I do it's almost completely inaccessible. ADGU didn't come out with their air compressor access hatch option on their drawer system until after I had already bought mine. To me it seems like the ideal location would be in the small cargo space directly behind the hybrid battery. Easy to access from the back and nothing would ever be in the way that wouldn't be easy to move. I just don't know if there would be enough space and I don't want to be the one to have to find out, especially now that I would need to remove my drawer system to attempt to relocate it.

I really want to see an install with this panel since I don't want to buy the other one.

Interesting idea. I don't KNOW that this would work but based on photos posted here (including one I took) I wonder if one could slide the control panel "around the corner" of that trim piece. This would position all the connectors (both air and electrical) in roughly the same place but make the panel accessible from the back rather than side of that wheel well panel. I suppose whether this helps would depend on the design of the drawer system but for me (without a drawer system) it would still help avoid other cargo I often have stacked up in that location. Am interested in others takes on this...
Clean photo showing TH (not mine) panel location, and "empty" spot between that and the speaker:

Photo of my scratched up cargo area with cover of that panel off - there might be space behind that wall to the right IFF the panel would fit there.
