Anyone else experienced a rattle from the seat belt mechanism in the B-pillar? Almost sounds like metal ting coming in contact with part of the pillar.

Yes, I have it too. I already spent 2 months and 8 trips to the dealer on another noise issue, so I don't have the energy to argue with Toyota again right now. I'm hoping there will be an official TSB repair for it eventually.

Sadly, I doubt they will issue a TSB for a rattle. They should as Dealers will simply not spend the time to find the root cause and fix.

Just had the 5k service done this week and complained to them about the rattling sound noticeably on my driver's side. They drove around for a drive test and concluded that the rattling is the car's "characteristics"! So nothing was done at least now wrt the rattling sound!

I agree the dealer will prob not be useful, but it’s worth a try. I wouldn’t expect Toyota to issue a TSB for this. You might consider a body shop and hourly rate to assist you. The b-pillar trim isn’t hard to navigate if you want to trouble shoot on your own. Rattles suck. Mine is above headliner near driver’s side grab handle. Airbag and headliner concern me if I’m troubleshooting on my own. Good luck.

I 95% fixed the two front rattling windows from suggestions on this forum. Seat belt rattles on pillar but it does on my $175k Porsche as well. My ā€˜16 5th gen was lifted with big meats and never had a tick, rattle or vibration in 53k miles.

I have the same thing in my TRD Pro and after opening the door panel I’ve concluded it’s the window track. It’s made out of rubber and very thin aluminum and there’s a point where the aluminum has a weld that’s loose and causes the rattle. I get it mostly when I have th radio on and bass from the music or someone speaking causes a rattle. I held the window track and tapped the door and voila the noise was gone. Someone suggest phone behind the bracket that secures the window track to the door but when I put pressure on the bracket bolts it still rattled. Considered wedging something in the weld to keep it from rattling but it’s pretty hard to maneuver inside the door, especially with my fat stubby fingers. Taking it to the dealer in a week for them to figure it out. The rattling is pretty annoying on the daily commute.

FWIW...me and my wife both have 25 TRD ORP's. Mine makes this noise and hers does not. Not normal characteristics IMO, but around me the Toyota dealers hate trouble shooting rattles.

IceCapRunner - I had a similar issue but only when I was listening to music with heavy base. I've posted about this on this forum. The video that the tech shot after doing the repair with a great explanation; adding foam/ padding inside the door - see video. It's been months since the repair and there are no more rattles. Others have thought that it was the B-pillar, taken it in for repair, showed the video, had the work done , and it solved the problem. If you do take the 4R to the dealer speak directly to the Service Manager - have them watch the video, demo if you can.

Anyone know if there's a TSB or official fix for the rattle that sounds like it's coming from the B-pillar? Mine happens with the radio off and is intermittent. I can't tell if it's the B-Pillar or the windows. It's too inconsistent for me to get a dealer to try and diagnose/fix. I'm hoping it's something I can DIY fix without taking a bunch of panels off...I know, unlikely.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls you can search for tsbs here. There isn’t any for ratting yet. My driver door was doing it with certain songs. The dealer connected their phone to my car and duplicated it. Unfortunately now I can hear passenger side rattling
