How heavy is your trailer? I also came from a Tacoma V6 and have the 4R hybrid. The 4R tows my 2200# boat with ease compared to the Tacoma. The improved torque is useful. You might be pleasantly surprised, although my boat is pretty light for comparison.

I have about 2500 miles on my Pro. I came from a Tacoma Off-Road. The 4R Pro ride seems pretty reasonable to me for an off-road capable SUV. In fact, I find it pretty comfortable. Just my experience and expectations.
