The local dealer is 10 miles away. Should I drive or have it towed? I can get there without getting on the freeway.

Toyota Care should cover the tow which is probably the safer option. I drove with hazards on cause my dealer was only 2-3 miles away. Depends on your comfort level. The local dealer is 10 miles away. Should I drive or have it towed? I can get there without getting on the freeway.

I know, kinda crazy for a brand that’s known for reliability... I’m always going to be wondering when the next failure will be and if it’ll happen on a road trip or in the mountains. That's scary that they didn't even try to find a cause. What if we are making a turn on a mountain pass and it shuts off and the steering wheel couldn't return back to center...
The service manager said they looked at it today, got a foreman involved, whatever that means, hopefully a senior tech, and need it for another day. I asked for scans/diagnostics but he said the tech/foreman hasn’t shared it with him yet.I know, kinda crazy for a brand that’s known for reliability... @a_double any updates from the dealer?
Hello. New here after picking up my 26 Limited. Following this thread…If I were in your position, I’d have it towed and make a helluva scene of it! Lol, kidding but man, seriously frustrating. The local dealer is 10 miles away. Should I drive or have it towed? I can get there without getting on the freeway.

Hybrid or not. Anything can happen to any vehicle as all new gens have kinks. Lastly it wouldn’t hinder me from buying a Hybrid 4Runner.That's scary that they didn't even try to find a cause. In the 10 years of PDI’s that I did, it was… but those had serviceable transmissions with dipsticks. Can’t speak for every manufacturer or model of vehicle. There is usually a booklet that is followed and in some cases signed off by a tech when done.Does anybody know whether checking the transmission fluid levels is part of the pre-delivery checklist? Either at the port, dealership or elsewhere.
You’re lucky they even checked the fluid! My local dealer wouldn’t even look. They said it’s a closed system and they don’t have any cause to drop the transmission lol.Update to my issue. The dealer service department found the transmission to be short on fluid, so they topped it off, cleared codes and are driving around town, trying to reproduce the issue. They opened a ticket with TAS as well. TAS mentioned 2 possibilities, transmission and fuel pump. I don't understand how the fuel pump relates but will get more details later. Whole transmission replacement is a possible remedy as well if the codes resurface and suggest tranny problems.
I can't believe this!!!
