I see. What you described happened to my 6th Gen. I have a 26 hybrid, purchased in January. I drove <1 mile between occurrence and it being serviced at the dealer. They drained/refilled my transmission and wasn't able to reproduce the issue, but they did find my fluid level to be short ~ 1...
I currently own both. IMHO the 5th is better in terms of feeling like a truck or off road vehicle. My 6th gen feels like a crossover. Maybe it’s the Platinum trim vs TRD ORP. After getting a Platinum, I have re-kindled love for my 5th Gen. The only real standout thing better is gas mileage...
If you pull the dipstick out 4-5", let it sit retracted for a few minutes, then wipe, dip, check, it helps with the streaking.
It's a quick stab into the oil pool, my theory of course.
2000 Tundra (sold, owned for 21 years)
2020 Tundra (sold)
2021 Tundra
2020 4Runner TRD ORP
2026 4Runner Platinum
All had/have a better transmission compared to the 26 4Runner. At times, this 4Runner feels like I'm strapped to an atom smasher.
Does the Toyota software try to check for updates upon wifi connection? How often does it check? If I turn my ride on, but drive away from my wifi network within a few minutes, not long enough for a download, will the car display a unfinished update?
I opted out of connected services...
