Lift
Regarding the Westcott lift kit-I did not use the 1" top hat. This is a long story, but initially, I was told by someone at Westcott I needed the OEM top hat with their (front and rear) lift. Based on my conversations with Jeff after having installation complications, it sounds like I needed the 1/2" top hat, which takes the place of the top spacer that comes with their lift (front portion).

I decided to go with heavier-duty coils in the rear. I was told by Exit Offroad (Dobinson) that I had to use their 0.6" spacer with the coil. However, my installer was able to use the Westcott rear spacer with the coil. Therefore, I'm fairly certain I probably ended up with about 1.1" of lift in the rear. Westcott advertises .75" of lift in the rear.

So to summarize-I am still waiting on Westcott to send me the 1/2" top hat, which means my installer will have to remove what he already installed, removing the Westcott spacer, and install the new top hat. I hope that makes sense. I have been waiting for almost a month to get the new top hats I was promised.

Tires
I added a wheel spacer to give my tires some "poke." I DID NOT need them for the tires to fit the wheel wells. I have had no problems and no rub since installing.

UCAs
I am planning on replacing the UCAs, but not because I need them to accommodate any other components I have installed. I just want to install heavier-duty UCAs so I don't have to replace them down the line.

I planned to have the installer do all this work while he had the wheels off, but I am going to have to bring it back to him when I get the new top hat. I also had a problem with the UCAs that I am trying to work through at the moment. (They did not come with ball joints, which I was aware of, but the installer was hesitant to remove the old ones and install them into the new arms).
Which model Dobinson rear coils did you go with? I have an SR5 and did the Wescott F&R collar lift, but I carry about 200lbs of equipment in the back so my rear is noticeably lower than the front. I contacted Dobinson and they recommend installing the C59-817V and to remove the rear spacer.

I went with C59-885V (1.5 Lift with 0-110lb load) but you would have to figure out approx how much weight you have back there. (See pic) You have to select the coil based on normal everyday load, not the anticipated/potential load.

Also, don't let your wife find this post šŸ˜‚
I’m not married. That’s how I’m getting away with it!
Following thread...great build.

My wife is actually responsible for 75% of the additions I am doing on my ORP. I bought it mainly for MTB trips up north and occasional surf trips to California. I was happy with a full length roof rack and a bed in the back.

She started talking about how much she misses camping, road trips, and getting lost in the AZ/CO high country. So I started making a list of things we would need to do all those things and handed it to her, thinking that there is no way she would approve it. She read it, looked at the price list and without even blinking said "OK, prioritize the order and we can get everything in 3-6 months time."

Started with the lift kit and 35" tires/wheels, and spare tire hitch. Next is roof rack (I can take my surfboard inside the car, for now, since I usually go alone), the jerry can & jack carrier. Then we are deleting the second row so we can clear up so room for the Hele bed (she wants to try it before she decides if she wants a small pop-up trailer, although I am pretty sure she won't want to get one).

The last step is the full steel skid and protection package since we plan on summer trips to Colorado backcountry. Then she started talking about the auxiliary gas tank that goes in the spare tire area underneath since we don't carry a tire there but I want to see how heavy I am with everything is done.

I noticed that you got full RCI skid plate package so I would love to see some pictures of that install.

Sounds like you got quite the little project under your hands coming up here. I would love to send you pictures of the RCI skid package, but I haven’t had it up on the left to be able to take pictures of it from the bottom. I’m glad my list helped you out though.

Put your video camera on the ground facing up, then drive slower over it (not on it) while recording. I've seen a few videos taken like this which provides a useful ground up view with all the moving parts in motion.

You don’t understand my luck I’d end up running over my phone.
