Warranty doesn't matter unless you consider the price.
If it cost $250 then everyone should buy it, if it cost 15K no one would buy it.

How much does it cost?

I pass on all extended warranties. Never needed them in the past, and on the rare chance something comes up on my 4R I'll still be ahead in the long run when it comes to what I've spent. Also for everyone saying they took it due to all the new electronics, be sure to read the fine print about what exactly is covered by the longer warranty. You might be surprised how little of that tech will actually be covered depending on which warranty you got.

I agree being this a first-year model. I've always balked at getting the extended warranty. And luckily in my 5th generation I never had to use it.. but I digress to say that with the turbo pushing this engine I am trying to think positive and probably do very frequent oil changes. And yes the tech part is the big concern with any vehicle that is a rolling laptop.

I personally went through this with a brand new 2024 Mercedes GLC 300. After five times to the dealership for various electrical problems Mercedes corporate bought the car back or it would have been a lemon law case. In any event when a manufacturer buys a car back it's still tagged with a stigma of a lemon.

So for the extra money it's good peace of mind after the warranty. I ended up getting the Platinum 100,000 mile. What did you get?

I will probably get the platinum but not till early next year when I get my bonus

platinum looks like it covers everything but I did not see the large display covered.

there is just so much tech in these vehicles im not willing to risk it...im keeping this vehicle for at least ten years

On a related topic, does anyone have an opinion on, or experience with the Toyota-backed extended warranties versus the DOWC warranties (through the dealer)? Advantages/disadvantages of both? I am aware of the good pricing offered by Jerry Johnson, and will probably be taking delivery on my new Limited in mid-December. Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Stick with the Toyota VSA if you plan on getting an extended warranty. You don't need to get it while taking delivery of your vehicle. You have until the 3 year / 36K warranty ends.

With that being said, I plan on purchasing a Toyota VSA Platinum extended warranty before my 3 year / 36K warrant runs out. Too many unknown variables with a new model not to purchase one for peace of mind.

I did get the 100k for all the tech. That said though when they first pitched it I did tell them I'd make a decision closer to the 3 year mark and they told me "the price may not be the same in 3 years" I stood firm and then they dropped the price by like 60% or something crazy like that. I'll need to look at my paperwork but it was such a drop I felt like it would be dumb not to take it.

a 10yrs/100k vsa platinum is roughly $1545

10/125k is roughly $2005

just remember toyota vsa will include the 3/36k within its plan so you have to subtract 3yrs/36k miles from your plan

so a 10yr is now 7 yrs and 100k is now 64k effective

and a 10yrs / 125k is now 89k effective.

toyota vsa only start after the oem 3/36 expires. anything that happens before those timeline toyota has to warranty them. after that the vsa warranties them and per the booklet on what is covered.

you can goto fd-warranty and talk with them on a toyota vsa.

and yes the website looks like it not even finished or sus or janky (however you want to call it)

plenty of people on here, tundras.com and other 4runner forums have bought from them.

i will be buying one come later this month or early december for our 23 tundra (feb is 3 yrs mark but we only have 17k miles on it so it still under the 3/36k threshold)

send them an email and they will get back with you with a cost matrix and instructions to buy a toyota oem vsa warranty.

just keep cost matrix's out of public posts, toyota usa doesnt take kindly to people posting the matrix or other proprietary toyota info. lost some good people being banned by forums posting good info that toyota didnt like being posted (coughryan-greggcough)

a bunch of Toyotas
fd-warranty is legit but looks sus in website appearance

platinum covers about everything except non-hinged trim (if you have trim
with hinges like glovebox door or sun visor and the hinge fails or visor droops
it's covered. but trim is pretty much never covered...example little plastic doors to
access your jack, you bust the tabs, not covered)

----

If you buy a Toyota VSA, and need to check if it is legit

You can go here and enter VIN and name
https://www.tmisvpp.com/home-page.html
(TMIS is Toyota Motor Insurance Services, Inc. )

2025 4runner 6th gen Extended warranty for the 6th gen? 1762356743704-sh

or
Call Toyota Financial Services directly and they can look it up
[Or if all connected up to Toyota app and Toyota owners account...all that bloat and noise, in there somewhere]

I have never purchased ew for any vehicle but I did this week when we picked up our new 4runner. $3200. 8 years 100k
ouch, that is like $1700 over the real cost of a toyota 8.100 plan with the new updated pricing

you almost overpaid for what i paid for a 10/100 plan toyota plan about an hour ago

Hello all,
I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone out here has opted for the extended warranty, and what package did you pick for your 6th gen.?
Or do you feel perhaps it's not worth it.

My personal experience purchasing an extended warranty was that I never used it.

Thank you
You can purchase an extended warranty prior to the original warranty expiring. Previously I never purchase these but plan to study the plan and make that call down the road. No sense spending the $$ until the time comes
I bought the Toyota 10/100k extended warranty because the dealer gave me a huge $ chunk off. I bought my 4R because for the 1zt time on my last vehicle I didn't spend the $ on an extended warranty, and at 3yrs 2mo and 24k miles I started having electrical and other misc issues.
I purchased the extended Toyota Care warranty (and maintenance) at purchase because I figured it being a first year model of the new 6th gen and I've got the ORP iForce Max and figure it's complicated enough to make extra warranty coverage a good insurance policy.
