I just installed the TRD 2.5" kit, and in the manual it says that the TSS and cameras need to be reconfigured. I am not getting any codes or anything really noticeable at the moment, but wondering if anyone else has had this done yet and what it cost to have the dealer do it? I just called my local dealer and they quoted me $770 for the labor... I might go down the rabbit hole of how to DIY this if even possible...

Have you considered a different dealer?
I’ve called every one within an hour of me and they’re the only one that’s gotten back to me. Toyota dealers are a joke.

Think you need the AUTEL ADAS tool or similar to reconfigure

Hopefully you figure out a reasonable rate for this procedure. The dealership that is installing my TRD 2.5" lift does the install, alignment, and TSS system recalibration for around $1k.

Originally, I was going to do this install myself and am glad I didn't. You can pick up the kit for much cheaper than MSRP, but between possibly losing the manufacturer's warranty, needing an alignment after, and need the system recalibrated, it's almost not worth the savings... if there are any after all of that.

You might want to look for independent shops that service Toyotas. I'm sure they would have the correct tools needed, at a much cheaper cost.

I think @Mr. Wolfe is correct across the board. I was hoping that the top end 4x4 shop I went to might be able to handle the recalibration (I showed them the same page out of the install guide that you posted above). They said they simply do not have the "right tools" to do the job. But a non-dealer Toyota specialty shop (like the car care nut) would seem ideal. Not sure how hard it will be to find one that has the tools. (There are a bunch of independent shops near me in the DC metro area that claim Toyota expertise but I've not checked on this specific question.)

Don't bother. Drive like normal and if they work like they should; just send it. Not worth even $400 to have them "recalibated". That's just manufacture talk to cover their asses. If the sensors were sensitive enough to detect a 2.5" change they would throw a code.

I was thinking the same thing. I can do cameras myself (because I have noticed a difference) but I am just gonna keep driving it until something weird happens or it throws a code or beeps at me.

Dangit, just saw this. Sorry if it’s duplicate info.

I am a controls engineer and my take is why would your cameras care about height, they are designed to look forward/ around. I had a 3.5" lift put on my 26 TRD ORP, paid a total of $775 labor, no discussion of re-calibration.

Yeah idk about the technical aspects of it, but the install manual clearly says that both cameras and TSS sensors need to be recalibrated. My 360 camera is definitely not correct anymore. There are gaps and distortions.

My 360 cameras aren't aligned very well at all. Especially the front one. And I'm bone stock.
