Anyone have any experience with the Yakima EXO system? We are considering picking up one with the cargo box and the top shelf and bike rack. We have need for some more storage when we head out in August to visit family Redding but we also want to take the bikes along as well.
Did you end up getting this? Considering it for a road trip in 2 weeks

1up finally got their extended anti wobble bolt made for the rak attach. You will need to let them know when ordering you have a Toyota when purchasing. Here is my setup with the rak attach, hd racks and MOLLE panels with table.

Not yet we are still debating it. We went camping last weekend and we really could have used that extra cargo box on the EXO. We missed the sale over Labor Day and with the season coming to a close we are going to wait for another sale and pull the trigger.

I've got a 1UP SuperDuty. It's a great unit. I was also looking at KUAT which makes great racks also. Regarding the 4Runner hitch, it is 2" square size but requires a longer lock pin. For some reason Toyota decided to switch from the standard length thats been around since the beginning of time to the longer pin. When you order a rack make sure you ask for the longer "Toyota" lock pin.

I too have the 1up SD. Awesome. As stated, you will need tge longer lock.

i also heard they have a more secure hitch cover. The bolt is crap on its own. The rack is great.

I have a Kuat NV 2.0. Works fine, only complaint is the fact you have to disable PKSB every time you use it to avoid having the 4Runner lock up the breaks each time you back up.

I only had to turn mine off once. Not sure why you have to do it every time.

Sorry, I meant that once you disable it then you have confirm it's disabled with the Enter button on the steering wheel every time you start the vehicle.

what is the pin diameter and the hitch width? The 5/8" pin is too wide to fit in , is it a 3" hitch size in length?

I've got a RockyMounts Guiderail on the way, which is another 2-bike hitch mount solution very similar to 1Up's options. I've had RockyMounts trays for years on other vehicles and was recommended this hitch rack by my brother who runs a bike shop in western Colorado near where RM's are made. Will share photos with it installed later this week.

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner uses a 5/8-inch diameter hitch pin that fits a 2-inch receiver. It's important to note that some new 2025 4Runners come with an extra-long hitch pin, which is necessary for properly clearing the flange on the hitch receiver.
  • Hitch Pin Size: The standard size for the 4Runner's 2-inch receiver is a 5/8-inch diameter pin.
  • Length: Some models include a longer, extra-long hitch pin in the glove box to address fitment issues with standard-length pins.
This addresses the size needed
