  1. ARB 3/4 Rack as standing platform for photography?

Thanks for the response! I think I’m leaning in the general direction too after realizing I’d rather not have the ladder give that it might interfere with my bike rack and things. Plus since I’ll only want the ability to stand up there occasionally, hacking together some sort of platform doesn’t...
  2. ARB 3/4 Rack as standing platform for photography?

I have been weighing a roof rack and ladder, not so much to haul gear, but to use as an occasional standing platform for photography both during work engagements and for personal projects where some additional height is required. I’m curious if anyone here has ever used them in such a way and...

The connectivity of your Plans community will never cease to amaze!
  4. Underground TRD ORP Build with mods parts list & prices

Thanks for providing so much detail and this link! I’ve been toying with adding sound deadening to my ORP but am a little intimidated by the idea. Currently weighing the cost of pre-cut SoundSkin material vs your share — did you just cut small sections as you went to get the coverage desired...
  5. Left for Big Bend in a Jeep... came home a 4Runner owner.

Nice! Our teardrop’s tongue weight is proportional to its overall weight so that was never an issue for me. On the ORP I definitely don’t get any squat and it’s as if there’s nothing back there while towing!
  6. What did you do to your 6th Gen 4Runner today?? šŸ‘ØšŸ»‍šŸ”§ 🧰 šŸ›

This is a great idea - just ordered some foam to do it myself, thanks for sharing!
  7. Where are the photographers at?? Whats your go to setup?

Hi gang. I’m an art and architectural photographer by trade. Currently shooting on Nikon Z8’s with a wide variety of lenses and strobes too long to list. But when adventuring in the 4R I’ll likely often have my 70-200 on and a small camera with a fixed 28mm nearby.
  8. OEM TRD black cast aluminum running boards installed on TRD Pro

Looks great! I'm really drawn to these both for the looks, but also because they seem super grippy. I honestly don't mind the flimsy running boards on the ORP too much for now, but they get slippery quick. Also imagine these aluminum ones give some sort of protection, even if not true rock rails.
  9. Introductions & Welcome Thread šŸ‘‹

Yep, not ideal but very limited options! The trailer is lightweight, ~1500 lbs dry. It’s a Timberleaf Pika Offroad and is perfect for our needs. Took it as easy as I could on the drives given the new engine and barely noticed it back there.
  10. Bike Rack on 6th gen 4Runner - post your setups / recommendations

Assume you've found a solution, but just in case, RockyMounts make's an XL pin for their lock that came with my rack. Imagine it works with other locking mechanisms as well.

It certainly took me longer than maybe it should have, but I’m here now!
  12. TRD Pro/Trailhunter Heritage Grille Swap (Upper & Lower Grill) on SR5, with part numbers

Man, this looks SO good! I had hoped to find a way to do this when I'd decided on an ORP instead of a Trailhunter, but not sure I want to go through the effort. Seeing yours and others in this thread makes it so tempting though!
  13. Bike Rack on 6th gen 4Runner - post your setups / recommendations

Will share more images with bikes soon, but I received my new hitch rack, RockyMounts GuideRail, this evening and absolutely love it. It's rock solid with extremely smooth movements, single-handed operation, and comes with a very beefy integrated chain/lock. Highly recommend.
  14. Left for Big Bend in a Jeep... came home a 4Runner owner.

Sharing an update that came sooner than I'd planned! I installed skid plates yesterday and despite being told that my flat black TRD wheels on order were backordered, it turned out they had them after all and had those and some Wildpeak AT4W's installed today and all is right in the world. I...

Beautiful shot and same here! Only wish I weren't on the opposite end of the state from it!
  16. Left for Big Bend in a Jeep... came home a 4Runner owner.

So interesting. At least we've all begun to see the light in the end!
  17. Left for Big Bend in a Jeep... came home a 4Runner owner.

It's actually a Timberleaf Pika Offroad and I'm biased but think they are the best for compact trailer camping!
  18. Hybrid Real World MPG (iForce Max) - post your model, specs, general driving conditions, results:

Thought I'd drop some info shared in my original post about my initial experiences in the first 1,000 miles in my hybrid ORP driving across Texas with a trailer. Averaged 16.9mpg while towing a ~2k lb. trailer. A small percentage of this was driving without the trailer in Big Bend NP and some...
  19. Left for Big Bend in a Jeep... came home a 4Runner owner.

Thanks and same! My wife definitely laughed at me when I shared photos from our trip and there were so many of the 4Runner… but how useful now that I’m a member of this forum šŸ˜…
  20. Left for Big Bend in a Jeep... came home a 4Runner owner.

Nope, they were very trusting and just had me mail the title+spare key once we got home. They had initially made the trade-in offer without a test drive given the trailer being attached, but we were very open about what was going on. The next morning we disconnected the trailer so they could...
