I've done a bunch of mods (guess I should create a build post at some point) but will keep this to just a few highlights both positive and less so....
Useful addition well worth cost:
- Cargo Lights PT94489260c0 - ~$250
- Cargo tray all weather mat PT908-89256-02 - $130 (seems I'm an outlier here but its easy to pull out and clean and has done a great job for me)

Things I might do differently:
- to avoid rubbing experience I would probably go with 275/70/18s on TRD PRO wheels - in C load if available, instead of the 285/70/18s I bought - I like the look and the slightly added clearance but the weight (and impact on MPG/range) is .... maybe not worth it.
- would probably go with aftermarket low profile rack instead of the OEM cross-bars (PT97089251; $320)
- Toyota integrated Dash Cam (PT94934222; $360) - it is fine - and integrates nicely, but ... its just meh and more $$ than after market.
@MikeD Did you add a lift running 285/70R18 on TRD Pro wheels or stock height?

The hard plastic doors ticked me off too, until I bought mine...And I immediately didn't care. My arm is perfectly comfortable on the plastic. It's a great height sill too.

Same!!! The hard plastic drove me crazy. I looked everywhere to add some soft touch to that part. Then the other day I realized, i didn't even notice

Agree 100%. I have a limited now and don’t notice a difference. In fact, I think I like the ORP seats better tbh.

Mods:
Winter Tires - Still waiting for snow to try them out. :(
FixcamX dash cam - Very impressed and discrete.
Discovering extra storage under the rear floor board of the non-hybrid.
Westcott Lo-pro full rack - Mixed... I love the low pro look on the sides and back, but i am not liking the front fairing. I wish the fairing was a little further back and not standing out as much. It is what it is because my only other choices are no rack or lots of a wind noise.

8) Front license plate mount - this was purchased only because I didn't want to drill holes in the new bumper. The mount is solid (may need an additional, nylock nut just to keep the 2 mounts from loosening up), the license plate is up out of the way, and no extra holes drilled. I'll see how this works out in the long-run.
Would you mind sharing the brand? Thanks. I still need a way to mount a surf tag on the front of mine.

MESO custom map and dome lights I would say are good. I can understand if you're not wanting to do the map lights because of the pain to take off the overhead. That one took me an hour taking my sweet time to make sure I do it right the first time and luckily didn't break anything
The dome light itself can be more than enough for everyday. That one is fairly easy

Some things I regret, buying tacoma gen 4 products thinking it would fit on the 6th gen 4runner. Its a hit or miss. Luckily amazon's return policy came in hand for those.
Some products I bought on Aliexpress and I didnt bother to return. Wasn't a lot of money but wasted money.

Cargo cover on a hybrid seems weird with the raised load floor. I returned that as fast as i bought it.
I bought a larger cup holder extender that goes into the regular cup holder. Regretted that and I had to find another solution to hold my bigger water bottles without them rolling around

Yea - guess I should have noted that. My 285/70 rubbing with PRO wheels (+20 offset) that was alleviated with TRD Flat Black (+45) includes the Peak 1.25" leveling kit (5/8" spacer at top of strut assembly). This definitely impacts overall ground clearance (along with the bigger tires), but I don't believe it has much impact on rubbing - the rubbing contact point (air dam tab) with +20 PROs is just above (1"?) the horizontal center line of tire - so without the top spacer I believe the same rub would occur (not worse?) just at or below the center line - with not much difference when articulated. (I don't KNOW this for certain but I THINK its true) - and this rubbing is eliminated with the move to the +45 wheels.
Forward rub contact point with TRD PRO wheels & 285/70/18 Toyo A/TIII (inc Peak level kit):

FWIW this is during install with vehicle lifted from frame - full natural sag:

Hard to see detail on this shot but this is immediately after install of leveling kit and new wheels/tires (note: I was able to avoid front rub by removing air dam, bending screw tab up, heating felt and pushing it forward and removing crash plate)

So, I could have lived with this situation EXCEPT when I went off-roading and had full articulation on the rear wheels - they rubbed against the fender flare/wheel well on the edge. (The larger fender flares on the PRO/TH do matter.) This is what triggered me to get the TRD Flat Black wheels to go with the 285/70s and it seems to have solved both rubbing issues.
My attempt to prove to myself that the wheel offset eliminated the rub on rear fender flare (I just didn't have the tools to push the tire all the way up like I've seen from Tinkerer's Adventure - fitting 37s on stock Tundra (I think this video shows what I'm talking about). And subsequent full articulation of rear wheels off road have not resulted in me hearing/feeling the same rub as before.

Note that I am running the 285/70s with TRD Flat Black wheels for winter and off-roading - and swapping in the OEM Michelins (265/70) on the TRD PRO wheels for long distance travel because of the significant range/MPG improvement (I also put the air dam back on).
Here is current setup for winter - including recently installed CaliRaised step edition rock sliders (will post the running boards for sale once I get the chance to clean off the mud from my last adventure - I really like the running boards but wanted the extra protection from sliders):

I guess I could have given a simple answer but your question seemed to need a bit more than that. Good luck

Which offer do you prefer aesthetically? I love the pro wheels but love the way the ‘TRD flat black’ wheels sit.

I slightly prefer the look of the PROs. Something about the way the openings/spokes are arranged seems cleaner to me. The extra "hub" metal on the TRD Flat Black seems to take away slightly from the ascetic. But I've got both so its all good:>) And just for grins, here they all are for zoom in comparison to anyone who cares (including stock TRD OR wheel which is now living on my sons 5G4R SR5 Prem. in Denver with SL 265/70/18 A/T IIIs):

oem automatic running boards.

  • unless you or someone you drive with are shorter than 5ft 8in, not worth it. the vehicle doesnt sit high enough and they extend downward at a awkward height (your either too long legged to use them or your too tall to to use them)
  • if you live in a snow state or go off roading and have the oem mud flaps, they dont save you the hassle of debris hitting the rear passenger door kick out (the mud flaps doesnt protect the rear doors where a conventional running board would)

i am looking for a set of mud flaps that extend lower than the oem's to cover the splash of snow/slush/dirt onto the rear door kickouts

I got the ARK ones and they work awesome.

Hey: Can you elaborate on the rear storage you found on the SR5? ----Thanks.

Front "eyebrow" strip tint. It does NOTHING that the visor couldn't do 😂 and adds $50 extra on the tint work.

If I were to do it again, I'd get light tint, like 75% on the whole front windshield.
