I finally got around to removing the front air dam on my 2025 TRD Sport. This, after it scraped a lot while on a power line road the other day. No problem with the air dam, but the very next time I took it out, the transmission oil temp gauge took a very long time to come up to normal temp. To be honest, I don't know if the long warm-up time is normal because I don't remember ever watching it in the first few minutes of running before. But it does make me wonder if removing the air dam could cause the transmission to take longer to warm up.

Just wondering...

If you check the Toyota parts catalogue, it is listed as a transmission warmer.

Um pretty sure no one is thinking or caring about such. I’m in a TRD Pro and I don’t even have the air dam

If you're asking if removing the aim dam COULD affect warm-up time...sure, it COULD. Your transmission oil cooler is integrated into your radiator and removing the aim dam COULD result in more airflow to the radiator. But I really doubt that it makes any difference that you would notice.

$541? Really? I'm glad I removed mine before it fell off!

I watch the oil temperature dummy sensors on my Dash, and have been doing so since day one. I've also taken off the air dam from day two.
I have always seen that it takes a fair amount of time for the transmission / gear oils to warm.

Now probably a more accurate way would be to have an OBD2 Bluetooth device in while driving with an application via your smartphone.

This might give you a better reading. I live in warm climates, so not too concerned about it but I am always actively looking at the workings of an engine.

Is anyone out there using an OBD2 Bluetooth to look at relative temperatures?
Thanks in advance

I'm guessing I just never looked at that gauge during warm-up before. It does come up to normal operating temperature eventually, so I think my concern was misplaced. However, my air dam was missing two screws by the time I got around to removing it. It had no damage ... yet.

All of the screws I removed were the same. They have the look of self-tapping screws. The missing ones were on the passenger side near the end.
Interesting! My air dam was held on by 9 machine screws
