@horbit I'm stealing your picture to show where I'm 99% sure the sound it coming from. I believe the door card sits into this groove and the rattle is coming from the bass causing the door card to bump up against this groove. I'm going to try placing some foam into this groove and see if it stops it for good.

If anyone tries this sooner I'd love to see the results as I'm not sure when I'll have the opportunity to try it myself.

Interesting and that makes sense to me. I wonder if foam can be placed behind it or in the groove, or on the connecting parts of the door card.

I would say that when I first got the car and heard the rattles, I would press my forearm against the upper portion of the door card and some of the rattles went away.

@horbit so, rattle aside, are the soundskins worth it?
I would say any sound deadening to the front doors in this way are 100% worth it, rear doors don't rattle much since the driver size is so much smaller. Soundskins kit just makes it easy with the precut kit but you can cheap out and probably get the same effect.

Also I left a 5 star review for this Soundskins product on their website with some concerns about the rear door precut being off (precut holes missing, 1cm too wide, and a wire passthrough slit location issue), they never posted the review. I have an issue with that.

Oh, that’s interesting they don’t post the review…
I am in my car now and pressing anywhere on the panel doesn’t help. However, what does help is grabbing and squeezing the handle on the door. The second I let up, it starts buzzing.
my go-to song for rattles has been Bust a Move. Neighbors must think I love that song! Lol

These pictures show the handle area you may want to focus on. There are two bolt holes circled near each end of the handle location. You can see the amount of material I have in the general area, I don't have a handle rattle.

Thanks for the photo. Truly appreciate it. I’ve been kicking around the soundskins, or new tail lights. Not sure I can convince the wife of both… I’ll try wrapping that tape around that area.

I'm late to the game but doing this now. The metal tab at the top of the guide. Do you need to make sure that slots in somewhere up there you can't see? Or does it just do it by the fact of sliding it up the rubber track?

I haven't done the rail thing yet but a different owner did this. All on the outside and around the top a bit.

@horbit Sorry, I knew what to cover, I was just not sure when you are reinserting it into the door if that little notch is a pain to get in where it is supposed to go. Spoiler alert, it isn't. Everything slid back into place just fine.

I also put some random strips on exposed metal on the driver door. Put everything back together and it would appear that metal rattle is gone. One thing I did notice as I also was listening with the door open, the very bottom of the door rattles a little, but I am guessing that is because it does not have the seal of the door being closed.

I don't know that I notice it while the door is closed and I'm listening to music. Played Chlorine by 21 Pilots and cranked it to 40, no rattle I can hear while the door is closed. I need to go cook some burgers or the wife is going to cut me, so I'll do the other doors tomorrow.

The passenger windows isn't rattling now but I may as well do it now that I have the tools and nohow. Thanks for this thread!

So my rattle is coming from top left of window when closed. Like closest to the B pillar but top left of the door surround. I pulled the weather stripping and sprayed expanding foam in. Did zero. And that’s not a part of the door you can separate or get into. The good news is it’s directly next to my head. Wth

Im finding this very interesting. I have been pushing my trucks sound system to its limits trying to re create this rattle and for the life of me i cant. My friend however who has my identical truck but 2025 not 2026 like mine, he has this rattle issue on any slight bass music at volume 40.

I wonder if Toyota fixed the issue on the 2026 models?

Might be the seat belt mechanism. I thought there was another thread showing a rattle coming from there.

I have zero rattles when playing music on my 2025 SR5. I do have Beat Sonic and Alpine Speaker upgrade.

Hi all, I replied to a previous thread (https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/thr...d-with-foam-insulation.5618/page-3#post-91950) saying that i found the source of the door rattle and how to actually fix it. I did it in my driver side door and as promised, I documented how to do it when I was fixing my passenger side door.

Here is a video of inside the door showing what part is actually causing the door rattle that seems like it is coming from the B pilar but is actually in the top right of the door (when looking from inside the car).

The rattle is coming from the window run bracket where it meets the top part of the car door as seen in the video, I was able to wiggle it with very light pressure to get a metal on metal noise. This is the exact spot where it rattles. (don't hate on me not knowing the actual name lol)
An easy way to check if this is the source of your door rattle is to turn up your music and base then listen for the rattle. If you roll down your window all the way and the rattle goes away or is less intense then this is the source of the rattle.

Here is a step by step guide on how to do it: (had to add images as share links on this thread due to size of images and videos)

1. You need to take apart the door trim (it is easy, I pretty much just used my hands and a screw driver to get the screws out. In some places I used a bicycle tub prying tool to get some of the clips on the white piece inside the door.) I used a guide on how to take the door trim off.
To avoid reinventing the wheel here is the youtube video ()

2. There are three bolts holding the door panel trim down you will have to take off. Here are photos with bolts circled: (upload stopped working so here are share links to the photos:

20251124_013518207_iOS.jpg (click to view)

20251124_013525361_iOS.jpg

3. Door without panels looks like this ( 20251124_014244410_iOS ).

4. Then you will need to remove the two bolts holding the window run and remove the window run from the door to insulate it. I used amazon basics automotive butyl noise insulation. Here is a video of how to remove the window run ( Removing window run.mp4 )

5. Clean any surface you will be adding noise insulation too prior to application. I used a clean rag and 70% isopropyl alcohol.

6. Now we add noise insulation to the window run (you only have to add it to the top part shown here ( 20251124_014757859_iOS ). But with my OCD I covered the whole thing. here is what it looks like after being covered: ( window run insulated.mp4 )
  • It is important to get the whole bracket at the top insulated ( i went back to add some insulation as there was one spot in the video that I missed). Here is an image of the final insulation at the top ( 20251124_024401683_iOS ) it does not have to be pretty but pressing it down firmly is important to reduce the thickness of the insulation and to insure long term adhesion.
7. I also installed noise insulation (two layers) between the bracket mount and door panel interface (between the bolts). I did this before but it did not get the rattle to go away full but I did not remove it so it probably helps.

8. Install the bracket back on: Install window run braket back on..mp4

9. Put bolts back on the window run bracket and door back together.

10. you are done if all you want is get the door rattle to go away.

I also decided to added the sound insulation to the rest of the door but this took a long time and was very tedious but does improve sound quality. Since i already was working on the door I decided to do it. Here is what my door looks line insulated: 20251124_050733165_iOS.jpg

Hope this helps!
Awesome thread! Thank you

Just came here to say I’m having the same problem on my 2026 TRD ORP. I’m hesitant to do all this work just to fix rattling that shouldnt exist in the first place for a $65k vehicle - brand new 🤪

Has anyone just taken theirs back to the dealership asking them to repair it? Would this be covered under the warranty?

It’s covered under warranty, but you are at mercy of them hearing it too. I’ve taken it to 3 dealers with no luck, even when it was plain as day to me. Then suddenly, it just went away on its own!
