Which all-terrain AT tires?

I’d also look into the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT’s. I run the E rated tire on my Tundra and just had 285/70/17 SL rated installed on my wifes ORP.

I have 15k miles on the set on the Tundra and am very happy with them. They have been through mud, deep snow, ice, etc and have handled everything quite well.

Had the Wildpeak AT4’s on our previous outback and they were a great tire as well. However the outback didnt experience the kind of conditions the Tundra does.

I used to run Wild Peaks all the time but they are heavy and the wear down real fast. I switched to the Toyo Open Country's and they are way better. Go with the RT Trails, you will not be disappointed.

Good info all around. Can you guys elaborate on the Wildpeak being heavy? Compared to the Toyos for example? How much?

Also if you had to rate the noise, which one comes out on top?

My last vehicle had K03’s. They were very good in snow and ice. They were moderate in wet conditions. It is a superb off road tire.

They were also a heavier tire, I had K02’s in a “C” load rating.

None of them were very loud, even the K02’s

I’d just say, they have a heavy sidewall and they’re a heavy tire. The impaired ride quality for most people won’t be worth it for K03’s or Toyo Open Country’s.

My 3 sets of Falkens were incredibly good for tread wear. Were yours the SL rated?

seems like the Falken Wildpeaks and Nitto Terra Grapplers are always mentioned in any tire conversation, and understandably so, both are highly rated on Tirerack.. I just find it curious nobody mentions the Bridgeston AT Dueler, which is the top-rated tire in that category.

Trying to decide between Falken wildpeak AT4w or Nitto Terra grappler g3. I heard good things about both but who has them and how are they? Going on a TRD ORP. Sticking with 265/70/19 for now. Prob spend 90% on road highway

I just got Toyo AT3s in the stock size for my ORP and have been using them during the snowstorm here in Virginia, I love them and i had AT2s on my Silverado before this and never had a problem.
I like too that they’re lighter than the wild peaks

They were E rated. I went with the C rated on the Toyo tires because I’m not doing as hard of trails in my 4Runner anymore. They are also a couple pounds lighter per tire.

With all this snow and ice out, I had a failure in my house that required a trip to town. I took my Tundra because if I'm going to wreck a truck it ain't gonna be the new one!

Turns out, the tires I put on it last summer are some of the best tires I've ever used in the snow. Cooper Discoverers. Same truck, have had KOs, KO2s, and Ridge Grapplers. I'll probably never buy KOs again. They've always been trash in the rain, and not great in the snow/ice either. The Ridge Grapplers were okay, at best.

The Coopers are also about the quietest and best in the rain I've had on that truck. Look great too. The performance of them in the snow has pretty much guaranteed that when the 4Runner gets new tires, it's going to be those.

I can give another recommendation for Toyo OC AT3. Very smooth, not that noisy and great in snow and wet.
