F-150 blew through an intersection without stopping (going roughly 50MPH) and plowed into my TRD ORP. Fire department says the new 4runner likely saved my life based on how bad the impact was.

Everyone was amazed how I walked away from the accident.

I’m very impressed on how well the 4runner held up!

Whoa! Glad you’re ok and it is stuff like this that makes you realize buying a modern vehicle that is built to modern crash test standards with the full suite of safety equipment is worth it over keeping a 10+ yr old car going.

I got t-boned in my 2012 Wrangler at much much lower speed last year - maybe 15mph - and my head hit the inside side of the car because it did not have side air bags. I was ok, but at a higher speed I would have had head injuries.

Any truth to the rumour that those ugly stock rims helped? ;p

Wow I'm glad you're ok. The F150 sure looks like it got the bad end of the deal. The 4Runners seem like they do very well crash wise.

Glad your OK, looks like the 4R held up pretty good. Looks like a heck of a hit.

As far as modern vehicles being safer, not all of them. Had a 22' ProMaster run a red light doing maybe 25mph and run half way through the side of my 23' ProMaster. Those things are I sware thinner than a sheet of paper.

Commercial vehicles are basically exempt from safety testing. That's not a good thing except maybe in terms of freedumb.

Actually that picture shows the Ford's safety engineering also worked as designed. The trucks crumple zone absorbed the energy of the collision by the front end collapsing as it hit the 4Runner.

When you see the costs of new cars part of that is the engineering, construction and safety systems that allow you to walk away from crashes.
