Trying to get a realistic sense of the market lately…

Not to compare or judge, just feels like numbers are all over the place right now depending on the dealer and location.

Curious what everyone else is seeing.

it will vary from one extreme to the other

you can find dealers doing invoice or below and then you have dealers doing msrp and then you get the ADM dealer doing 5k to 15k markup

i mean my state has 1 of each of those dealers

mine was doing invoice for my 4R platinum (only if i did an allocation reserve request)

the other dealer 106 miles away is doing msrp

and the dealer in fargo is doing ADM (they havent stopped since covid)

In SoCal I talked to number of dealers last month. Most best case was MSRP and a lot were 2-3k over MSRP due to pain protection or etching or ect.. I was able to to get closer to 5k under sticker price.

". . . pain protection" ???

Is that for when you go in to battle with the Finance Manager? 🥊 🤣

OP wants to know what type of discounts, if any, people are getting.
Yeah, and what (I’m assuming “she”) is saying is 100% valid and correct, coming from somebody who sold cars in a dealer. Every deal is different. Like for instance I wanted more for my trade so they just took an additional $1000 off the price of the new car to validate it. Now if I didn’t have that trade in I wouldn’t have gotten that. Also if you finance with the dealer (finance program) they get kick backs from the lender so they are more flexible with the front end price because they know they are getting that money back anyways.
it’s like the fuel mileage dispute. Nobody gets the same mileage because the cars aren’t the same and are not driven the same. Wheels, psi, weight, roof racks, passengers (weight) all play a factor. You can have a rule of thumb “what I paid” but without actually seeing the full picture of the car deal it’s like comparing apples to belt buckles.
Legal disclaimer: don’t sue me please.

Did you get it $5k less before or after taxes and the dealer fee?

Off the sticker price. Sticker price has always included the delivery, processing and handling fee. ORP sticker was little under 62k, minus nearly 5k then taxes, registration ECT... Out the door is was 63k.

I basically emailed through Toyota site or dealerships website on every one I was interested in. I was only looking for the ORP and in white. Ok I did email a few about PRO when a lot wanted 3-4k over sticker price either from high margin add ons or just flat out dealer add on fee for nothing in case I could get a deal on one and make it close to same price. I spend maybe a week doing this with every dealership in about 100 mile radius (which in socal is lot). I got one deal about 5k off but then they wanted me to email a form with CC number to hold it as it was still on the boat. I got another for about 3k off. The dealership I bought it from didn't believe I had those kind of offers and I sent them the official quotes from both and they decided to match the best offer. That was originally one one with the TRD wheel and trailer package and something else that made it about 2k more than the one I bought. It sold while they sending me official offer and then they gave me same discount on the almost stripped down ORP. I have not seen a single one that didn't include the 4 add on options it came with anywhere.

Texas here. Truck was listed at $66k sticker. Invoice on the Limited hybrid is around $57k (I think) and with basic add-ons they sold it to me for about $62k…So somewhere between invoice and MSRP. Then tack on taxes and any additional warranty. I had a paid off low mileage trade that took a sizable chunk out of the bottom line which also lowers the tax burden by almost half, so that helped. Anyway, agree with others, that each situation will be different. The only bummer in the deal in my mind is that Toyota wasn’t offering financing deals that other manufacturers were (e.g. 0% Financing). Toyota’s lowest offering was 4.99%.

I used "vindowsticker.com" in my search for our 4Runner. There's a button marked "sale" and it shows what the vehicles were sold for. They also have a new "deal" feature that does the math and gives you a starting price.
All that being said.
ended up getting a used 2025 TH with 401 miles. It's loaded with every possible option. $67,000 plus all the Tax license registration, extended warranty (wife's request. It's her car . lol )
It's a late 2025 build. Currently has 406 miles on it.lol
So cal here.

Graphics will be ordered very soon!

Houston is adding 4k+ to everything with all the extra dealer bs. 60k+ easy down here, which is why I drove 4 hours to Boerne to get 6k under msrp
