Toyota Factory Door Edge Guards - install instructions / photos?

Does anyone have the door guards installed when they purchased their 4runner? I purchased the Toyota door edge guards for my ORP and they did not come with any directions. They’re very small and don’t even run the entire length of the door.

If anyone had them preinstalled when they purchased their vehicle, would you mind posting a picture of them for me please?

Only this one spot. Nothing on the back doors or anywhere else except the same spot on the passenger door. I already have nicks in the uncovered section below the covered section. I guess it's more about protecting you from scratching someone else's car than protecting your car.

Mine came with these plus the plastic body things running along the bottom. I didn't order either one it just already had them. I'm probably going to peel both off. I hate tacked-on junk like that. The thing on the bottom *might* protect against shopping carts maybe. Except shopping carts are far more likely to hit the rear corners not the middle of the doors.

...looks like I paid $120 for those 2 little strips of nothing, and $250 for the things on the bottom.

Doesn't the bottom of the door hit before the top part?

It’s really all about how picky you are about parking and walking or just taking two spaces on the diagonal. Nothing can really protect you from other careless drivers.

I have yet to install it though, so my apologies I cannot give feedback. Very soon after I got my 4Runner I managed to put a tiny ding at the door edge--just a slight, but annoying, chip in the surface of the paint--probably not even through the primer. I wondered if their paint is that fragile, but then it does not need much when it is a point like that. These only protect from our own carelessness (I sometimes have too much of that!), not from other vehicles. Because of the shape of the rear doors the plastic guard generally hits first, so a lot less important there (although since I have a long roll I may put it on the upper portion of that as well anyway).
