I have no issues with the steering wheel height in conjunction with the display now that I lowered my seat a bit. Did this mainly to see enough below the rear view mirror, which appears lower than the 5th gen’s, likely due to the massive space requirement for the front camera housing.
Also agree a grab handle for the driver would be very welcomed IMO, then again the redesigned one on the passenger side is a joke. Who thought that the front passenger could contort (twist) their righthand wrist 180deg to lift theirselves in? Hopefully a retrofit to the 5th gen design will be available soon?
If you have running boards or sliders...

Place your RIGHT foot on the running board.
Grab the OEM handle with your LEFT hand.
Step up with your RIGHT leg while pulling up & in with your LEFT hand.
This balances your body mass fairly well as you swing in and flop you butt cushion down onto the seat in one motion.

Or try a strap. My wife grabs on with both hands.

No problems with the display.

I'd prefer another inch or so higher so my leg clears easier while climbing in.
I agree with you. ! That, plus at 6'4" I had to learn to duck my head to get in but not forward, duck back. Took some getting used to

could try "seat jackers" to add about another inch of height on the seats

The ergonomics of the cabin are weird. I'm still fiddling with the seating position every few rides after 20k+ miles.

If the wheel is in the right spot, my knees hit the bottom of the steering column and I can't see the top of the digital dash. If I want to see the dash or have space for my knees, I have to move the steering wheel awkwardly high.

does anyone know if the steering column goes up higher with the manually adjusted control rather than the powered control?

they wont since they need to keep the steering wheel placement within crash test specs

if they had the ability to have different locations, that would entail different crash testing since the steering wheel airbag could deploy differently or they would have to use 2 different airbags to ensure the driver wouldnt just glance off the airbag

This is an interesting thread and just goes to show how individually-impactful the placement and adjustability of the seats/steering wheel/mirrors are.

I frequently have the issue that I can’t quite dial in the above to my preferred seating position while maintaining my preferred relative position of the other things. But the 4Runner is one of the only vehicles in recent memory that works out 100% great for me in this way. 5’11” here, but I think another big factor in this type of thing is where you _like_ the seat to be, where you _like_ the steering wheel to be, and your unique arm/leg/torso length!

I find that I have a preference for a higher viewing angle. When I sit in the driver seat seat, I find that the new Land Cruiser and the fifth GEN version of the forerunner both enable me to do that and still have the steering wheel play that allows me to see the dials. but in all likelihood if and when I get a new forerunner, it’ll just be time before I manage to get all the adjustments worked out to where they’re acceptable might not be optimum but acceptable.

hey just be glad you dont have the hud display issues that our 23 tundra has. it only has left right and rotate adjustments.

on the 4runner i have up/down adjustments. i did wish it had left/right adjustment though as i like to sit just a tad more to the right than center.
