As the title says, I’m thinking about selling my 2025 TRD Pro I got in April of last year and getting a 2027 Ram RHO. Would love any and all thoughts, so don't hold back!

Here’s my reasoning. I love the Pro, but there are a few nit picky things here and there. There are a few rattles that have proved stubborn to fix, it would be great to have a bit of a bigger gas tank (love the other thread on this subject), the wind noise is a bit annoying, the road noise is there as well, and I thought I was going to do more trails, camping, etc., but I really haven’t. Most of my driving is highway, around town, winter driving, gravel/forest roads, road trips and some towing. But, even with those little things, I love it, and I would be happy to keep owning it for years to come.

But, right now the Pros are really holding their value. KBB is saying my private party value is $73,800 and the trade-in is $68,500. I know those are just numbers, and the market will tell, but KBB seems to be pretty accurate. And, while I know I won’t get the cost back on the full XPEL Stealth PPF, ceramic and tint package (a $10k+ package in the U.S.), CBI Rock sliders, all the little things here and there, and the transferable Toyota 10-year/100,000-mile extended warranty, I think they make mine pretty attractive at the upper end of the market. I have 17,500 miles on it now and there isn’t a used Pro in the state of Montana or really within 300 miles of where I am. So, someone could get a beautifully maintained Pro, with full XPEL Stealth PPF and CBI Rock sliders for far less than it would cost to buy new. I could potentially sell it for more than I paid for it, and throw in the PPF, etc. The numbers look decent and with current supply also looking pretty constrained for the next month or two, I don’t see that hurting resale in the near term.

As for the RHO, it is big, fast and expensive, but super solid, commands the road and is very plush on the inside with the Level 1 package. It’s enormous, but I was shocked by how well it drove and rode. It really didn’t feel like I was driving a full-size truck at all and the suspension set up is crazy. I was also blown away by how quiet it was inside. There was virtually no road noise and at 70, the wind noise was at least half of what the Pro is. As for pricing, if you look hard enough, there are dealers around selling the new ’27s for up to $11k off sticker. Not a bad deal. Yes, the gas mileage isn’t the best, but people seem to be getting around 16 mpg average, so depending on how you drive your 4Runner, it’s not that much worse, and it has a 33-gallon fuel tank.

So looking at the numbers, with the equity I have in the Pro, I could put $15k down on the RHO, keep a decent chunk of cash, and my payment would be just about the same. It seems like a pretty interesting proposition...

I’d love to hear anyone thoughts, so bring it and let me have it! Thanks!

Nooooooo! Here I was about to respond in a different thread that was asking 'did we make a mistake in getting the TRD Pro?' and I was about to say that you would be hard pressed to find anyone who got a Pro that wasn't happy. And then....you post this!! I love my Pro!

But seriously, you only live once. As long as you have the money to do it comfortably.....get what you and your heart wants!

Hey Anthony. That's an interesting thread over there for sure! I do love the Pro, it's really great. For me, I just was thinking if I could level up for essentially the same cost and it fit what I use it for, why not. If you get a chance to drive an RHO, let me know what you think. It's pretty great...

If it doesn't happen, I will be very happy with the Pro for years to come.

I drive a ‘25 Pro and love it. But to each his own. I read your post and you sound like a guy that wants the RHO. So just go for it. Life is short and nothing is forever.

Hey Mcd. Thanks man. Life is too short and if something brings you joy, why not... I'm heading back to the dealer tomorrow to test drive a 26 again and really see if it's something to do.

1. the toyota vsa can be pro-rated refund (full refund before 30 days) if you never used it. so you can get back the money you sunk into it (depends on how it was paid for, if you paid for it out of your pocket you get the refund, if its part of the loan, then it gets return to the bank)

2. comparing a off road suv to a stree rod truck is not really the same, but i understand you issue that you dont get maybe 5% use of full capabilities of the Pro vs the RHO and driving around town mostly

3. as with any oem its a hit or miss on quality and reliability of vehicle, typically you get better out of the gate and long term with toyota (but even then you can get a bad one even with toyota) vs the domestic oem's,

4. for what you described i think a limited would have been a better choice long term for your use case now that your direction has changed toward more city/highway driving than off roading. the RHO caters to that more than the Pro

either way enjoy the RHO (cause once that bug gets in your ear, you will nit pick until you get one)

me, i had a few chances to jump ship from a 4R to either

lexus is350, then i looked at the gx460, then the new sequoia, then gx550, and finally a grand highlander platinum.

eventually i dropped any chance of getting a lexus, this biggest issue was warranty work since there is no dealer within ND and the nearest was 550 miles away. that would entail a 3-day vacation since its about a 8-10 hrs drive 1-way, then a day at a dealer, the drive back.

i really liked the sequoia, but the deal breaker was the storage area complete bonkers setup. plus i dont need a 3rd row seating ever (i ordered my 2014 specifically without a 3rd row and i made sure my 25 didnt have one either)

i looked at a grand highlander platinum and was really liking it all around. a lot more comfortable than a 4R and better interior ergonomics and tech but the biggest issue was awd. i was so use to my 2014 4R with FT4WD that it was hard to give that up and eventually my #1 dealer breaker.

so i stuck to my guns and patiently waited for the 6th gen 4R. i am glad i did and this will be my retirement vehicle in 5 yrs (it will be paid off before then)

but each person has their own variables so each case is going to be unique to that person. maybe the posts here will help you make a good risk assessment for you needs and steer you in the right direction.

good luck and enjoy with whatever you decide, remember ultimately, its your choice and you have to live with it.

I traded my Ram 2500 power wagon for a Trd pro and would never ever look back.
At 3,000 miles no heat in the middle of winter on the drivers side, plugged heater core from casting debris, Dodge wouldn’t warranty it even though I had max care warranty.
All kinds of electrical gremlins , lights flashing on dash when cold out.
Suspension knocking and clunking that dodge said was normal.
Water somehow leaking into the cab.
Uneven tire wear since new.
The dreaded hemi tick at start up.

Had to wait 6 months for my TRD Pro and was worried about something breaking before the trade.

So glad I’m back in a Toyota I will never stray again

I can't imagine what the Ram will do any better than the TRD Pro in your use. I can't imagine you won't have gripes, rattles and nitpick the Ram over your ownership. If you just want something completely different, go for it, but there is no logical case

Been a lifelong Dodge fan, leased a new one every 3 years for the last 35 years. I've noticed the quality slipping in the last few leases and had electronic problems in almost all of the last 3. Last one was a Durango GT, loved it, rode great, met my wife's needs but I could feel it falling apart by the time I turned it back in and that was with only 33K on the ticker. Unfortunately I doubt I'll ever buy another Dodge.

BTW, you'll never see the type of return if you sell it or trade it like you will with a 4R.

P.S. Don't go by me, you know your needs better than anyone else.

Thanks JR. Appreciate it! I'm still on the fence about it all and I love the Pro, but as you said, I got the bug in my ear about it. I'm heading back up to the dealer today for another test drive to see if I still like it all and if the numbers are still what they said they would be.

That's the cool thing about the car world, there are so many different ones and everyone likes something a bit different. There's always the one out there for you. My last car before the Pro was a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I absolutely loved it. If it weren't for the quality issue Jeep had been having a few years ago, I would have another one.

Could be the RHO, we'll see. Hope all is well in your world!

Hey PMedicj. Sorry to hear that happened to you and Dodge wouldn't work with you. Not good at all. I was looking at the Power Wagon's as well, but I definitely don't need that much truck. Maybe the RHO is better, I don't know. A buddy of mine has had two TRX's and loves them and since they came out in 2025, the RHO's have seemed reliable, sans a few things here and there, which can be expected. Thanks for sharing your experience. Appreciate it. Glad you are loving the Pro!

Hey Josiah. That's why there are so many different options out there. What doesn't work for you, could work for me or someone else. It's all good and thank you for your thoughts. Glad you love the Pro as well. It's such a great one. Have a good rest of the day.
