Hello,

I'm feeling fortunate to have taken delivery of my white TRD Pro today. I owned a gen 3 many years ago and it was always one of my all time favorite vehicles. I've been driving a Mach E Rally for the last year, but after experiencing the gen 6 redesign in person, I knew I needed to have one! It will be a daily driver, family adventure hauler and will be used off-road trying to keep up with my son in his Jeep Wrangler. You know...for when he breaks down!

I only recently started my search and put down deposits at a few local dealers, expecting a 4-6 month wait. Amazingly, my perfect spec popped up at Toyota of Olympia and it was unsold. I got the tip and closed the deal. MSRP and a great trade value. My son and I picked it up today and put a few hundred miles on it.

My first impressions are all positive. Looks amazing in this stormtrooper spec. The quality of materials and the fit and finish are high quality. With the suspension in the softest setting and the cold tire pressure at 32psi, it is comfortable and soaks up the bumps. It's fast enough that I managed to get a ticket about 5 miles from the dealership 😂. I can see why folks talk about the engine sounding unrefined but not as bad as I expected. The hybrid powertrain has great power and torque. I cant wait to get it off-road!

My old 4Runner took us on a lot of adventires and I'm sure the gen 6 will do even better with a hell of a lot more luxury!

Impressive picture with what I assume is Mt. Hood in the background

Thanks. The first photo is Mt Rainier in the background taken from Tacoma.

I know what you mean...it's such a good looking and capable vehicle.

My build came with a few overpriced add-ons, but otherwise I'm super happy with it. I like the ARB rack although it may get swapped for a full length rack down the road if I run out of room. It came with the predator steps which I'm not a fan of and the dealer swapped them for the oem rock rails. I'm not lifting the vehicle and don't need a step getting hung up. The most laughable add on is the door protectors...they will be coming off. I also hate the partial hood ppf...a dirt line will be visible almost immediately. That will need to go as well.

No real mods planned other than maybe a fun partial wrap and putting on a lot of miles. I'm not a huge fan of the shiny black fenders and other bits...would prefer a matte finish and may wrap them once they look like crap.

Cheers,
Jeff

the good part of the oem hood protectors is the thickness (hence the dirt line). they hold up well vs minor/med sized rocks thrown at it.

going on 11 yrs with our oem hood protector on my 14 4R and it has held up vs rocks pretty well excluding the dirt line is more permanent than the first few years.

I'm not against paint protection film, although I rarely think the ROI is there, but if you are going to do it, you should do the full hood and wrap the edges where possible to avoid visible seams.

I also don’t have any complaints about my TRD Pro. I feel like it was the best trim level to go with (IMO). The only thing I could say that is annoying is why put gloss black fender flares on a vehicle that most likely will go off road for MOST people. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I still haven’t bc I gotta get my fenders wrapped before I dare even look at dirt!

I finally had the chance to get the 4Runner off-road. Drove from Seattle out East to the Stampede Pass area that has a big network of service roads. I was chasing my son in his modified Wrangler and had zero issues keeping up. While a lot of the area is just gravel / dirt roads, there are plenty of challenging side roads with steep climbs and huge ruts.

I did cringe a bit as I squeezed the wider vehicle through tight areas and listened as the branches scraped along the side. Surprisingly the pin striping cleaned up well with just a few small battle scars.

No doubt that my son's Jeep is a bit more off-road capable, but he was jealous of my much more comfortable interior, adaptive cruise and ability to drive 80+mph on the highway without feeling like the vehicle was going to fall apart 😂
