I am sorry sent mine back to get heat shield installed. If I didn’t do it now I would regret it later. Count me out for about 1-2 weeks how ever long it takes for them to send it back.

This gives you ample time to get a dyno run, in, before installing

I was just doing some additional research and will get mine ceramic coated before have it installed.

Key Benefits of Ceramic Coating a Downpipe
  • Drastic Heat Reduction: It acts as a thermal barrier, typically reducing under-hood temperatures by 30-40%.
  • Improved Performance: By keeping heat inside the pipe, it maintains higher exhaust gas velocity, which reduces backpressure and can improve horsepower.
  • Component Protection: Protects nearby wiring, plastic parts, and the turbocharger from extreme heat damage.
  • Increased Durability: Protects against rust, oxidation, and corrosion from road debris and salt.

We were able to get it knocked out quicker than expected. It's on it's way back to you as of this AM.

Enjoy!

I don’t have the exact dimensions, but I did place it on the floor by a yard stick, so you can get an idea about how big the Downpipe is. On another note, there’s a clip from CAMTuning with a cold start of a different brand of DP and a aftermarket exhaust. If this one is even remotely similar, it shouldn’t be too loud if you stick with the factory exhaust. BTW, the same thread goes into dyno analysis of aftermarket exhausts not producing much additional HP to warrant that replacement. So, I’m still going to have it installed, but I’ve decided to get the DP ceramic coated first.

@JustDSM, do you believe ceramic coating will be better than, not as good as or equal protection of the heat shield?

With the stock exhaust, the increase in volume is very minimal. There's a little extra volume at cold start when the wastegate is open (to heat the catalysts), but outside of that, it's all but imperceivable.

IMO, the insulated SS heat shielding will retain more thermal energy in the exhaust than a ceramic coating. The coating will better protect the 304SS downpipe from the elements, but the heat shielding we offer will do a better job of managing thermals.

That said, the reduced cell count and single catalyst in our downpipe will produce far less radiant heat in the engine bay than the stock downpipe. We found no heat issues with a raw downpipe during the 10K miles of street testing we put it through.

Best,
Justin

Are there dyno numbers for this pipe? $750 is a lot of coin for sound.

I am assuming there are benefits?

The DP is $1,500. The performance gain, paired with other mods and compensating tune should be significant. Estimates I’ve found in my research and limited knowledge indicate 340-370 HP for non-hybrid, but @JustDSM will have a much better idea than me.
