Is there a new style for the Toyota oil drain plug OEM crush washers? I bought a bunch before and I'm used to getting the bluish purplish almost kind of a cardboard like texture once and this last time I bought a half a dozen filters and crush washers and I got these in the picture. (Pen cap for scale). They seem to have a little bit of give to them but not like the old style crush washer and have an almost metallic outside. Is this something new or did I just get the wrong ones?

that’s strange. I bought a bunch a couple weeks ago from one of the local dealers and they were the blue ones

The typical bluish crush washers that I usually purchase from my local Toyota dealership parts department is what I use.

Did you order online from Amazon or a third-party Web site or did you buy from your local Toyota dealership parts department and were given those rubber ones? I'd be skeptical if you ordered online and got the rubber ones. But if you purchased from the local Toyota dealer parts department, then I'd say maybe those are an OEM equivalent part.

The other thing to note is typically when you buy genuine Toyota OEM parts the plastic packaging has the Toyota part label on it with the part number. Did the packaging have the Toyota label with part number?

I'm down to my last traditional blue crush washer in my supplies. So I'll be purchasing more from my local Toyota dealer soon. I guess I'll find out soon if Toyota decided to switch to the rubber style crush washer.

I recently got this style from a Toyota dealer for my wife’s 2026 Sienna and noticed the same thing.

These are OEM, right from the Toyota dealer that's why I was curious why they weren't the usual blue ones.

Oh and an FYI, I ordered part number 90430-12031 and receive these copper/metal ones instead That's why I didn't know if it had been superseded by these or I just received the wrong part.

Toyota part number 90430-12031 has always been the blue crush washers when I purchase it. This is the first time hearing about people getting something different. I'm wondering if there is some kind of supply chain issue, so maybe some dealers are substituting the 90430-12031 crush washers with other equally sized (but different material) crush washers and calling it an OEM equivalent. Just a wild guess...(or it just could be they sent the wrong part).

I've always used the (blue) crush washer that comes in the box with the Toyota filters. I just ordered 5 more filters and have one left from my last order - when the new ones arrive in a week or so I will check and see if the crush washer in the filter box has changed.

I went back to the dealer today and they told me the metal crush washers are correct, that they have replaced the blue ones and they didn't have any blue ones in stock anymore. This is total news to me. 🤔

just switch to a fumoto valve and never fiddle with the drain plug again
If you get a real skid plate is the Futomo valve covered by the skid? I don't like the end of it just hanging down there.
