There is definitely real power available from an intake alone — the testing showed that. And to be fair, increased sound and response can absolutely amplify the seat-of-the-pants feeling too.

I’ve shown how much tuning alone can unlock, even on the factory airbox. On a stock truck especially, the calibration side of things ends up being a bigger part of the equation than most people realize. And for anyone already running an intake, pairing it with a proper tune helps make sure you're actually getting the most out of the setup and the parts you already have.
In a bone stock vehicle with an intake only, the torque is a net zero if I’m reading correctly? And 10hp at peak? Theres no seat of the pants there, only placebo. but yes I’m sure combined with a tune you’d pick up something. Great data anyhow, it puts the speculation to rest

Can you post just the banks and OEM to make it a little easier to read power under the curve. Also, did you do this test with the OEM vs aftermarket charge pipes?

you will not see any gains from the charge pipes even with an intake. they're just additional parts needed for a tuned setup that would also most likely include a bigger intercooler.

10hp is not a placebo- non turbo Toyota guys would be thrilled to gain 10hp after an intake and a tune. With a tune on the turbo, 40-60hp is achievable.

Here you go:

I tend to agree here, but may test just to test my assumption. I have a set of brand new Banks charge pipes, and a brand new 4Runner I need to do some dyno testing on. I will likely repeat my SXTH vs Banks Intake testing, then add the charge pipes.

With the inlets and outlets using the same diameter as the stock charge pipes, I don’t see any significant gains.

Thank you for taking the time. It doesn’t look like that’s the OEM and banks though?

Sorry I misread the request and thought you wanted just sxth and banks. I’ll get the other graph when I get back to my laptop.

Stock vs Banks. Peak numbers only tell a very small part of the story, so even though tq peak seems like only a very small gain, there is tq gained everywhere after peak.

it's just wild to me how hard Banks gets pushed on the FB forums saying it's superior to the Sxth intake when dyno reports prove otherwise.
