I wouldn't mind having better shifting behavior honestly. The hard shifts I'm feeling early in my commutes until the transmission warms up is concerning. Others have reported it also of course.
Let me know. We can talk about it more over PM or the phone even.

I am almost afraid to get involved in this thred😁
I started tuning cars back in the early 70s. Plugs, cap, roter points. Check the timing, dwell. Use to set the timing at factory, then advance till it pinged ,then retard it. A knocking engine will fail eventually. Had cars with dual webers, Fuel injection. Always listened to the motor.
My 2019 mustang bullitt must use 91 or higher octane. I would use 93 if i could find it. High compression motor. The higher the octane, more potencial advance in the timing.
I am very sure that these dynos are correct. Advancing, and retarding timing affects hp and tq.
I will throw a question in here.
My 2025 tacoma long bed 4x4 has a similar curb weight as my 2026 sr5 4runner. Same drive train. The 4runner engine and tranny seem much more agressivly tuned. More responcive. Factory tuning?

I got my start back in dirt circle track and still remember the timing lights, dwell meter, etc. I still have them here, but hardly ever use them. You're correct that detonation destroys engines, but sometimes it takes a long time.
I just drove 1600 miles round trip to the Toyota Jamboree in my Tacoma, and despite the price, I kept it on 91 and 93 the whole time.
Engine tuning from the Tacoma (except for the SR) and the 4Runner is very similar. There are significant differences in the transmission tuning, but I would not consider them more aggressively tuned. How about you tune the Tacoma and then it can run circles around your 4Runner?

Loved seeing something tuned on reg pump gas. I was always curious I sometimes don’t always feel the need to constantly run with mid or premium especially how gas prices are nowadays. I get the benefits of doing so but my wallet is thanking me right now lol

Reflash Tune + Accessport ($969):
This is a pre-built calibration that I’ve developed and refined across a lot of these trucks. It’s a big improvement over stock in throttle response, power delivery, and overall drivability.
  • No revisions required
  • Quick turnaround
  • Great option for mostly stock vehicles or with common intake modifications.
  • We still review data from your vehicle after flashing to make sure everything is operating exactly as it should. If I see something that needs changed, I will change it at no charge.

Custom Tune + Accessport ($1,169):
This is a fully personalized calibration built specifically for your truck. We go through a revision process (typically 3–5 revisions) where you send logs, I make adjustments, and we dial everything in based on your fuel, environment, and how you want the vehicle to drive.
  • Tailored to your exact setup
  • Can be more/less aggressive depending on your preference
  • Ideal if you want everything as dialed as possible or plan to modify
Right now, COBB is running a 10% off sale through the 30th, and that discount applies to the full bundle:
  • Reflash bundle: $969 → $873
  • Custom bundle: $1,169 → $1,052
Does your reflash include the torque management adjustments thru first gear and the transmission logic?
