Installed Limited Headlights w/ 4Runner Badge (Etsy šŸ˜…) on the Hood

For anyone interested in doing this upgrade, it’s fairly simple. I highly recommend disconnecting the battery anytime you’re working with electrical components such as headlights or fog lights.

Part Number: 81070-35661 - Unit Assembly, Headlamp, B Left Hand
Part Number: 81140-35661 - Unit Assembly, Headlamp, B Right Hand

When removing the headlights, make sure to disconnect the two harnesses located on right passenger side of the headlight. (Be sure to connect them properly once you're finish, otherwise you'll unlock a can of worms; check engine lights, codes, etc. etc.)

The entire process takes roughly 1.5 hours from start to finish.

The Limited headlights have three connectors total:
  • One connector for the DRL/turn signal
  • Two connectors for the low beam and high beam
  • One extra connector that is not used (I pointed this out with an arrow in the photo of the back of the headlight)

The Limited headlights can be adjusted by using the headlight leveling control knob on the driver’s side.

Overall, a straightforward install and a great OEM-style upgrade.

Ugh. I need to quit finding stuff I need in this forum. Did you order straight from Toyota? I keep holding out hope that Form will release lights that I love, not sure what is taking them so long.

They were on sales at Toyota of Santa Margarita for 30%, will probably go away after Holiday lol. Trailhunter and TRD PRO are back orders, since alot of people are buying those.

Looks great! And they perform well too. I live in heavily wooded boonies where there are no street lights etc. so I am very critical of headlight performance. The OEM premium lights are excellent.

When you do this upgrade, does the headlight leveling knob work just as if you had them from stock? I'm assuming so, but I hadn't kept track if the non-premium headlight models shipped with the same headlight adjustment or not.

Thanks! Yes, The headlights can be adjusted through the rolling knob. I kept it around 2-3.

Is there any material difference besides the aesthetics for these compared to the TRD OR/SR5/TRD Sport trims?

Do they swivel or illuminate better at night?

There is a material difference, but no active steering of light. The only instrumented test I'm aware of comparing the two are the IIHS headlight test, on which the lower trims receive a "Poor" rating and the upper trims receive an "Acceptable" rating.

So the difference from other models is light-up "underbrow" as Daytime Running Light (DRL)?

I can't justify $1k+ for this lol..even tho they look nice, just not much functional upgrades..

Form has lights in the works, but not sure about release timeframe. They're the same ones they had on their Tacoma at SEMA 2024 as prototypes.

These look amazing, quit holding out on us Form

Oops, they had them on their 4Runner this year, too. Looks like they will have a selectable amber or white DRL, sequential signals, and a startup sequence.

If I am reading the data right the high beam improvement is very significant

Sort of, yeah.

10m-30m here and there so 30-60ft distance/spread.

Some difference is noted, given the Acceptable rating vs Poor.

Is that worth the $2,000 investment though....
