Tell the stealership your brakes sound like fucking garbage in reverse. Print the tsb keep it in your pocket and see if they offer to fix it. If they say there isnt a fix, grab that paper so they can feel stupid

Pulled out of my garage and heard the cringey screech
I’m not far from my first oil change, do I just mention the tsb to my stealership and the will honor the fix ?
Most dealerships are going to want to hear it for themselves, and that’s all you need to do. Mentioning the TSB if they canā€˜t verify the issue doesn’t mean anything I’m afraid, it’s not like a safety recall.

this is what I’m worried about bc it only seems to happen when the car is in the garage and I reverse out.
When it’s on my drive way I’ve not heard the screech.

My dealer asked me to drop the 4Runner off with them for the day so it could be parked for a few hours before they tried to observe the noise. Somebody may have squirted water all over the calipers and pads with a water bottle before they dropped it off at the dealership. Just to simulate overnight conditions. šŸ˜‰

I just happened to be at the dealership today and mentioned this TSB. Unfortunately the parts are on back order, but I have an appointment later this month to hopefully address the noise.
My dealership just told me the TSB is expired. This of course after they scheduled me for the work the day prior.

That’s a lie unless they’re looking at an older tsb. There are about 5 of them listed for brakes. I’d complain to Toyota brand tell them the dealer said it expired after they got you scheduled. Watch how fast they call you back to schedule it.

What's your source for the TSB's? I can see the current one (T-SB-0046-25) via the NHTSA site. Was just wondering what you were seeing?

Just got off the phone with Toyota's Brand Engagement Center and this has been superseeded by T-SB-0046-26. She was supposed to send me a copy and instead sent the T-SB-0046-25 version.

Just finished reading this thread (and another similar one)

Just curious: I know the TSB has been extended to the 2026 4Runners, but have any 2026 model owners actually experienced this issue? I don't think I've seen any '26 owners bringing this up (yet)

Iā€˜ve got a 2026 and have about 1300 miles and constantly put it in reverse over 10 times a day as I use it for my work vehicle as a sales rep. Also , the truck lives outside in rainy Seattle. I intentionally turned off the music to listen for strange noises for the first 1k miles and so far I haven’t heard anything. Hope I didn’t just jinx myself lol.
