Feelings on Paint Protection Film PPF: Good or Bad?

FYI, I have the TRD Pro. I just had the entire front PPF from the side mirrors forward. I also had them cover my rear fender flares.
I am due to go back in a week to have them fix or remove the PPF from my hood scoop due to excess bubbles and the film not sticking correctly. TBH, it looks horrible because it is directly in my field of view. They told me that it is normal for PPF bubbles to take about a month to dissipate so I am optimistic about the bumper, hood and fender flare bubbles but the scoop has me regretting getting it done. I wish they would have just skipped the scoop, especially if it was giving them so much trouble.
Has anyone else had issues with PPF covering the hood scoop? Just wondering if it is the installers lack of ability or are the sharp corners and edges not able to be cleanly wrapped?

That would make me insane. I would rather have my vehicle repainted every 5 years. (With factory color but a heavier coat)

That's a brutal job by the installer. I would go back and demand a refund. My hood scoop doesn't look like that at all, it's all flushed, with no air bubbles. The authorized XPEL place had a follow-up for things like this. No issues month and half after full body PPF and ceramic coating.

Totally agree. I got a full body Xpel Stealth PPF on my Black Pro (pictures are in this tread above) and I love it. They did a fantastic job. There are a few sections that will need replacing and as it's under warranty, they will take care of it for free.

Anyone have any experience with icon rock clear? Supposedly an application that is better than ppf but I have my doubts.

No PPF for me. It's not a pavement princess and will get scratched up and damaged off road sooner or later. If the paint chips in places, I won't lose any sleep over it.

I had my installer remove the film from the hood scoop. Looks so much better now that I don’t have to look at that mess while I am driving. ?

Nope, they just coated it with a ceramic coating. I have already applied Adam's Ceramic coating to the back half of the 4Runner and windows myself. I will be applying the Adam's to the front that they applied PPF to as soon as possible.

I’m about to get my pro completely covered minus roof and tail gate and hood scoop. Had a few cars done in the past. There shouldn’t be any bubbles. Which film did they use? It’s really about the skill of the installer.

From my experience, a properly installed paint protection film should look almost invisible once it has fully cured. Tiny bubbles immediately after installation are not always a problem, but larger ones or areas that do not settle can indicate issues with the application. You're right that the installer’s technique plays a huge role in the final result. While looking into different wrapping and protection methods, I found some helpful information on ppf wrap that explains what a quality installation should look like. A skilled installer can make even a good film perform and appear much better over time.

I can't remember the price but I had mine done within a month of purchase by a pro. He said it was the first gen 6 he had done and the last one he would do at that price. It was challenging.

I posted earlier on this thread, but thought I would again. 100% worth it for me. The black paint was so soft, it would scratch with barely any contact. The peace of mind of living in a harsh environment in NW Montana was and continues to be worth it. I drove through a sandstorm in WY earlier this year with 70 MPH winds. My windshield was trashed and needed to be replaced. The front of the rig was just fine because of the PPF and now with the warmer weather, it is starting to self heal any of the scratches and nicks. 10 out of 10.
