With 900 miles on the car an engine light came on and in addition to the above description I have:
Check engine visit your dealer
System malfunction visit......
No cruise control
Icon showing forward and rear radar off
Icon showing lane departure off
Icon showing no engine auto on/off
The car performs ok, engine, transmission, brakes etc

Thought at first it was the fuel cap but have put maybe 25 miles on it and maybe 3 or 4 restarts but still the warning lights.
Plus I don't think the warning would send me to the dealer for fuel cap but not sure.
I did make an appointment for tomorrow at which time they told me I would be paying for the diagnostic regardless of the outcome.
I think I knew that but it got buried somewhere.

Anyway if anyone can provide advise I would appreciate it.

Thanks

the diagnostic is a chargeable expense until it is determined that its a warranty issue, then they charge toyota for the diagnostic

edit : if the dealer still goes that route, and charge you for a diagnostic for an actual warrnty claim, then i would find a new dealer.

thats like saying a new tire is fully warranty replacement for leaking air until they look at it and determine you ran over a screw.

Will see tomorrow.
I would agree with you, most dealers , Ford etc charge the diag fee but if you have them do the work they credit the bill.

Same CEL warning happened to me at 1000 miles. Ended up being a bad O2 sensor. Dealer took care of it and no issues 4000 miles later.

Agreed but have to get to the bottom of this Christmas tree dash board first. I'm not sure if this is fatal or just minor problem.
The peripheral stuff like radar and cruise control etc are shutting down to prevent damage, so the service guy said on the phone.
All I need now is for it to go into limp mode on I95 - so it sits.

Thanks perryj-

Good to know I am a bit relieved hearing that.
Waiting now for info from the shop.

The really curious thing is the dash lit up about 1 minute after I filled the tank, just as I was leaving the station.
Cap seemed tight but will see where it goes

If you are relatively close to an auto parts store, drive it there and have them pull the codes for you.

The problem appears to be the "air sensor" which I believe he is referring to the mass flow sensor mounted in the engine air inlet.
None available. Backordered with no available date.
And so it goes.

Ask them if they would be willing to use sensor from new 2025 4Runner or Tacoma sitting on lot. Won’t hurt to ask.

yeah they are not pulling a sellable vehicle to get a customer back on the road.

a dealer is paying interest every day that new unsold vehicle sits on the lot

Seems the service spokesman gave me the wrong info on the phone. It is the air/fuel sensor. Quick check indicates it may be an advanced oxygen sensor.
The answer to my question as to when there would be a new one available i was told I do not know yet but could be days to month and this is a new model so some parts are a problem.
Well the engine is not new- although i suppose not all components are the same.
Drove over grabbed the car and told them to call me when they get it sorted out.

I'm not sure they would pull the part off one on the lot. but maybe
once it gets dark ...........

Weird. I had the exact same sensor failure on my 4runner. New part showed up next day.

I believe this sensor is the exact same sensor that is found in the 2024 Tacoma so find it hard to believe there are none available.
