I have the SR5 with the 8" display. It seems to go to the Get Connected screen each time it's used. I refuse to pay Toyota for services I don't need. When I need a GPS, I use Car Play but may times, I just want to get in a drive. I would like to control the default screen or mode its on and not have the Get Connected screen. Yes, I can press a button to change to the useless trip information which is better that looking at the get connected screen.

Has anyone found a workaround for this? I have Carista.

I was thinking about permanently connecting an older iPhone so it always goes to that screen but that seems a waste.

Thank you.

Infotainment manual 2.6 Screen settings. (Assume this is the same on the SR5 even though the screen is smaller):
1 Touch [ ] from the main menu.
2 Touch [Display] on the submenu.
3 Select the desired item.
Display:
Set whether to turn the screen
display on or off. If the screen
is turned off, nothing will be displayed
on the screen and only
audio will be played.
To display the screen again,
touch the screen and touch
the button in the center of the
screen.

I have the same issue with my iForce TRD Off Road. The startup display sometimes is Apple CarPlay and sometimes the Get Connected screen. I am not finding anything in the settings that gives an option of a default start screen, and I don't expect it either. But I am keeping an eye on this thread.

It's like having a forced Ad for Toyota's connected services all the time. I really think Toyota missed it on the 8" and 14" displays in terms of content.

I am not clear why you are getting this--once I connected my phone on my ORP I have never gotten the "Get connected" screen. Sounds like it is not automatically reconnecting. If it has to do with connected services (not just your phone), you get those for free for at least a couple years anyway.

Sometimes I do not connect my phone. Also, the SR5 does NOT have free Drive Connect. So, it always defaults to the sign up screen. Dumb and not well thought out.

Has anyone solved this yet? During the trial period the Toyota map would show on start up about 25% of the time. Now it’s the ad telling me to pay for services I have on my phone for free. I prefer waze for maps because it warns me about speed traps

Now about 75% of the time carplay is not on after starting the car. I have to push the carplay icon.

BTW I am kind of pissed that they force you to pay for basic navigation. In my old 4runners you only pay for map updates.

The problem is obvious. This screen does not have a Home screen; it defaults to GPS. You can change it, but it will always go back to the GPS (navigation) screen. I have the same issue, but once it finds a better connection (wireless), it connects to CarPlay.

a bunch of Toyotas
on an SR5 if you've unsubscribed from everything 'Toyota connected' and
use android auto for NAV/phone...etc...about every 10 or so vehicle starts
the 'get connected' will appear. otherwise when you start it will be the last
screen you were using. and once it a while it will forget the phone and you
need to choose yet again you want a device for android auto

annoying but no way around it....as it's a way to always remind you 'gee whiz you
could be paying Toyota why not ?' while Toyota keeps trying to bleed you
for a subscription

Surprising it would be so different among trims and equipment. I've seen the Connect screen about three times since I've owned my Trailhunter, which admittedly is only for a very short period of time. So few that I can't really say how or why it appears. Maybe it's when I switch from connected for Android Auto back to connected for Bluetooth Audio and Calls. My screen starts in the Android Auto display if that's what I was using or FM Radio which is what I listen to the majority of the time. I opted out of data services, never registered with/downloaded the app, never registered my vehicle on Toyota's website. I was very annoyed before pickup that I might be constantly bothered by that nag screen but it's another one of the pleasant discoveries that I haven't.
