I was a bit surprised that the new 4Runner used Cutting Edge Silver instead of the Celestial Silver, so just wondering if it looks good on day to day usage or shows dirt very easily?

To me it seems slightly darker silver than the Tacoma Celestial Silver and almost like a light grey. I had a car in the past that was a gray color that always required cleaning to look nice so a bit paranoid after that experience.

I agree with Marty60, my new Cutting Edge seems to hide dirt really well. I haven't washed it in the 6 weeks I've had it :)

We just got back from a 2500mi road trip to backwoods Tennessee and Mississippi in our Cutting Edge SR5.
That color tends to hide dirt well and still looks pretty good with a coating of Mississippi mud. Probably the best color choice given your concerns.

I guess that Mudbath would technically be the color to show dirt the least. But, that one is available on the higher trims only. Otherwise, it would be Cutting Edge. And, its more of a classic color.

1L0 color code has been used on other toyota vehicles in the last 6 yrs i think besides the 4R

its been called other things like Prata Argentum and just plain Silver Metallic

the classic silver from the 5th gen had 1F7 as the color code so they are not exactly the same.

from what i remember, the whites start with 0, silvers start with 1, blacks start with 2, reds start with 3, etc

so the first digit is the base color, then you get the different shades fromt here for the other 2 codes.

Cutting edge is my 2nd choice, it is not metalic silver but it kind of reflects the light the way metallic does. If I don't get a green one, I will go for silver. I was really disappointed with the color choices, my previous 4runner was Magnetic grey, I would love to have that again.

I waited a few months for an allocation for a TRD Sport Premium last year. I originally wanted one in Underground (coming from a 2021 TRD ORP in Magnetic Gray Metallic). I ended up having the option to purchase one in Cutting Edge before an Underground became available and I am extremely happy I did!

With all of the posts I have seen about paint quality on this forum I am happy to have a little metallic in the Cutting Edge. The light color with metallic makes it much harder to spot paint imperfections and dirt. Unfortunately, I did not get mine until late October and I did not have a lot of time to prepare before winter, but the sealant I used held up well over the winter. In late May I did a DIY ceramic coating. I opted to not do any paint correction prior as I couldn't find any swirls, scratches, etc. that justified that amount of time and effort. I'm also not very comfortable buffing and polishing, so with the paint looking good to my eyes it wasn't worth the risk in my mind.

Since the ceramic coating I have only washed the 4R twice. I do a hand wash and typically use a drying aid / short term spray on sealant after. Yesterday morning I noticed I had been bombed by some birds, but it rained later in the day and 90% of those bombs are now gone. In recent years I have been good about keeping my rides clean and using waxes and sealants, but this is my first experience with ceramic. While I questioned what the heck I was doing on the second day of my ceramic adventure, it has been worth it.

IMO - The Cutting Edge is a great color that is easy to keep looking clean. Protecting any paint with a coating (ceramic, wax, sealant, etc.) will go a long way in keeping it looking good.
