That's a sharp 4Runner! Congrats! Any plans for mods?

Super clean 4th gen into a super clean 6th gen, congrats! That silver and black combo is smooth.

Thanks. Not right now. I like to keep it stock.
Congrats! Looks very nice. Good color combo with the interior. I understand you want to keep it stock, but you may want to consider gas hood struts from a company like Redline Tuning. Super easy to install. I don't really feel it is an upgrade, but correcting an oversight that Toyota should have installed on all 6th Gen 4Runners.

I was thinking about the struts today. Thanks for the reminder.

Of all the little things I would want to tweak...this one would be the last for me. The horn would be on the top of the list. The only time I personally have opened the hood was to install the hood protector (SR5) and a new horn. Having to setup the hood prop just did not bother me and my last car had struts.

Any recommendations for the strut and horn? I tested the horn this morning and it sounds like it came from a compact car.

Exactly! Corolla or Prius. Do not know about struts as I have no interest in changing...but this is what I install for horn.

HELLA BX Trumpet Horn Kit (Part #012010901): Often sold as the Toyota-specific HELLA X Kit. It sounds like an upgraded European luxury vehicle rather than the standard "meep" sound.

there is the oem upgrade kit, its listed somewhere in a thread on this forum for the horns

i have to agree with the other poster, the only time i have lifted the hood is to put a battery charger on a dead cold battery to trickle charge over night and i usually just let the hood sit on the trickle charger unit since its pretty much freezing cold in the garage anyway.

but if you need hood struts, get the redline ones, around $80 for a set i think and uses the factory mount points.

they are also compatible with ditch light mounts in case you want to add them later since most reputable ditch light oem's use the same location to mount the frame for the ditch lights.
