Bug Shield / Hood Protector -- pros and cons?

Who has had experience in adding Hood Protector/Bug-Rock shield to their 4Runner. Pros and Cons?

Who has had experience in adding Hood Protector/Bug-Rock shield to their 4Runner. Pros and Cons?

I have one on mine and I don’t see any cons. I do a lot of highway driving and have seen chips on the front of my hood on previous vehicles so I wasn’t taking a chance with this one. I’ve already noticed chips on the lower sections of the front and none on my hood, so I know the hood protectors work.

It really only protects 5-10% of the front of the truck so I’m not sure what the point is personally. The black grill above my license plate already has three cracks in it from large bug hits, so….

I have one. I got tge front done with film but they wanted $600 more for the hood.
In am very happy with it.

I don't want to stick one on with 3M double sidedtape. That's the problem I have with them.

They protect the hood and windshield. It's not perfect, though. I cracked the windshield on my X5 and the rock that did it hit about six inches from the back edge of the hood. The 4Runner hood is much flatter, so this is probably not as likely.
