Wrong...I am almost 60 years old and have owned many turbos across many manufacturers. The maker knows they put a turbo in your vehicle. Their recommendations for oil change intervals are based on this!
Someone beat me to it but I'll post it again anyways. Not sure if you troll or just don't believe people who have a LOT more experience than you at 60. This guy has rebuilt and wrenched on more Toyota's than you for sure. Not some random net dude. He actually states that he wished Toyota would stop putting in10k oil changes in the manual. The data he has collected over a lifetime is valuable. Biggest running theme.... change your oil more frequently than what Toyota say!!!

I raced super bikes for a long time and most of us wrenched on our bikes to save money. A lot of the guys were car guys too, many went down the oil rabbit hole. Hundreds of oil analysis done on car and bike oils under a wide range of conditions, from the 1k bikes being rode to extreme rpms lap after lap to passenger cars and daily driving. ALL oils break down, faster than you think. Synthetic is not a magic bullet. 10k on a 4 banger turbo is probably not a good idea. Sure it will probably run fine for a while but I seriously doubt these new engines will come close to the V6 4runners of the past with 10k oil changes.

It never ceases to amaze me how much folks want to argue about this. There is less debate around politics and religion. Folks will literally preach about changing their oil every 3k miles but then fill up with the worst quality fuel because it is a few cents cheaper, not let their rig warm up at all before beating on it, then not let it cool at all before shutting it down.

Fact 1 - Toyota says 10k miles are fine under normal conditions.
Fact 2 - No one knows if that is good or bad advice.
Fact 3 - You can do whatever you want in your own rig.

Do what you want. There is no reason to argue with what others want to do to theirs. I personally did 10k in my 5th gen and the oil always came out looking good. That rig is still on the road with probably 140k miles on it.

My previous Hemi rig got 10k oil changes. I don't know where that rig is but I put 130k on it without issues. My rig before that was another Hemi truck and prepare yourself, I did 18k-20k mile interval changes and guess what, it is still on the road today. I bet it is pushing 200k.

I am personally undecided what I will do with my 6th gen just yet. I just had the 20k service done at Toyota. I'll probably take a look at the oil at 25k to see what it looks like and decide from there. I don't personally believe more often than 10k will make a difference but I could also be wrong. The only thing that really matters is whatever I do is what I do. I'll share what I learn but I don't really care what everyone else chooses to do with their vehicle.

a bunch of Toyotas
the only circumstance I'd do 10,000 on this 4runner is if I
drove on the interstate 100 miles at a time, exclusively.
no city, no surface streets, no grocery getting

Be amazed, do a Blackstone Lab analysis of oil at 3k and 10 k. Number don't have an opinion. Its simple science. Anyone who id serious about the debate will do so and learn some science.

Do you have a "lifetime of experience" with 4cyl turbos?
Probably not.
Change your oil frequently.
I do not. I will do my oil changes every 10k to 20k. After 2 to 3 years, I will sell my car. I do not care if my car breaks down for the new owner, nor do I want to make my car the newest condition for the new owner. Imgoing to enjoy what i have and sell it.

Why would i go above and beyond for the new owner?

My thought, as long as it lasts until you sell it. Hopefully it will not take a crap for you while on the interstate.

No, but several with VW GTI, BMW 2 series being the latest...oil changed at 10,000 miles intervals...never had any power train problems with them. I am not gong to change from manufactuers recommendations for a bunch paranoid goobers on a vehicle forum.
