I just put a deposit down on 2026 TRD Pro in Wave Maker Blue. That's great right? However we already have a 25 Trail hunter. I am just tired of the quirks my 2022 TRD Pro. The dashboard rattles drive me nuts. The lack of power and performance is something I miss greatly when compared to my 4 gen Fur-runner. My wife mostly drives the Hunter, it is what she wanted. All that said Toyota has left me wondering if their quality is worth the premium pricing. I hate the connectivity of both vehicles and the subscription based systems. I really think electronically, Toyota lags behind any more.

As someone with his and her 25 4runmers, I'd just keep your 22 TRD Pro and drive your wife's TH when you get the itch for something new. The 5th gen really does have a lot more practical aspects than the 6th gen (build quality feels more solid, second row seats fold almost flat, more second row legroom, wider rear door opening to get in and out easier, better resale value, v6).

WAVE MAKER looks great. Got the $$$, go for it.
Toyota's tech was never their strength. their overly beefy engineering (truck platforms worldwide) on the other hand...

I second the notion of going for it...as a previous owner of 3 third gen runners, and not caring for the ergos of the 4th n 5th gens, I am very happy with my 6th gen and waiting to find the platinum for the super luxury interior and my deal breaker HUD that I cant live without these days. Not the biggest fan of the iforcemax hybrid driveline but it is liveable.

cheers,
willie

Since your wife owns a 6th Gen and you already have a great capable vehicle I would just keep the 5th Gen. The price of $70k+ (depending on sticker and or dealer mark up) is insane IMO. To save that type of money I could live with the dash rattle and low power output. If anything maybe add new rear end gears w/tune or a supercharger to your 5th Gen for the lack of power and drive ability.

the biggest problem with the 5th gen ... that dog azz motor for anything outside of slow off roading.

i can see a chihuahua getting out of its way better than the 5th gen /s

I’m in a 2025 TRD Pro in Mudbath mine has no rattling. I’d go for it if that’s what you want.
