Hi guys!

so far absolutely love the ORP trim. Great ride, very comfortable.

overall i think Toyota has definitely cut some corners by using cheap materials such as bad windshield wipers/ seems to make a lot of noise from motor and smears but no streaks, windshield fluid that freezes even at 32f and brakes squealing in reverse.

Took the vehicle for 5k first service with oil change. The advisor first said that i don't need oil changed as Toyota recommends at 10k but when i said that still need an oil change, the guy then said GREAT IDEA to get oil change at 5k. About 100 sonjo biggie.

I asked advisor to check motor perhaps the tension on the wiper and to top off the windshield fluid with an actual fluid that will work, but the guy said something that was absolutely out of this world.

so he said that i see some smearing from build up of stuff that gets stuck on the windshield all day so he advised to clean the windshield every morning. Regarding the fluid the guy said to heat the windshield before using the fluid.

now having been a driver for over 30 years using so many car brands and service depts, the quality and responses of this adviser was so bad that i come to a conclusion that Toyota has lost it.

I live in NJ where we dont really have very harsh winter anymore. Fluid are not supposed to freeze in these conditions regardless if i heat the windshield. Rain will also clean the windshield which we get often in nj. Also get regular car wash so incant see any possibility of junk sticking onto the windshield so much that a 6months old vehicle with wipers and fluid perform so bad.

Tire rotation was also only done for the 4 being used and not the full size spare. I was told that its not needed and thats why the air pressure is so high in spare. Even though, this was BS but leaving a spare tire for emergencies was ok so didnt want to argue with the guy. Plus the kind of rotation recommended by toyota will leave 3 tire on one side used differently.

For brake squealing, the guy said the brakes build up rust and is normal and goes away once you drive it. He claimed that he has never seen this issue before. I already knew about the TSB available on this forum and on doing a quick google search, i showed the advisor the report and he said that he will order the parts and take care of it.

Overall, poor customer service at Toyota

Moby,

I'm not trying to downplay your frustrations, but just to be clear, this is poor customer service at this dealership, not Toyota.

I too had a streaky windshield on the 2025 4Runner I just purchased. One of the very first things I did was to clean it with Invisible Glass Glass Stripper
Amazon.com: Invisible Glass 91411 Glass Stripper – Hard Water Spot Remover – Strips Coatings, Waxes, Oils & Road Film – Preps Windshields for Rain Repellent & Ceramic Coating – 4 Fl Oz : Automotive

Zero streaking issues now!

I do not have a loud wiper motor, can't help you there.

I'm not doing the five-tire rotation like Toyota suggests. I've attached how I'm doing mine. Rearward Cross.

As far as the lack of wanting to do the oil change and the brake TSB, that's all on the dealership. A good dealership goes a long way in the owner's experience of the vehicle. FYI, I drive past two Toyota dealerships to get to my dealer. I've tried the other two and they're awful! Do you have other dealers you could visit and see how they treat you?

the squealing brakes at backup are a fix that toyota corp has authorized to 'fix the issue'. already had mine done recently, no cost.

In the rotation, my Toyota manual does not recommend a cross to rear rotation. Just front to back.
No Toyota 4Runner comes with directional tires from the factory, thus there is no need to limit oneself to straight front to back rotations. The rearward cross five tire rotation has been the go-to rotation pattern for vehicles with five matching wheels/tires for as long as I can remember, with the main benefit being to change the direction of rotation with the tire, counteracting the natural feathering that occurs with tires rotating in the same direction for an extended period of time. While I'll never claim to know more than the engineers who built this vehicle; I'm not following Toyota's recommendation on tire rotations.

There are liquid wax's- not really a wax- the dealers spray on to get a quick but non-lasting shine.
Getting that on the windshield turns it into a radar screen, especially bad at night in rain.

As I head toward my first service I am becoming less enthusiastic about dealer involvement.
I have read to many posts questioning if service was actually being performed or arguments about milage, payments, what's covered etc.
It is unfortunate the auto people turned service into a profit center with no guard rails.

Absolutely! After paying close to 65k for my ORP, i wish i had better experience during my visit. I think at the end of the day, even though its the individual dealerships and not toyota for poor customer service, but its still toyota.
Good luck! Hope u have a better experience.

Just brought my ORP iForce Max for 5K/6 month service at 4450 miles. I knew (from this forum) they weren't gonna do an oil change cause dealers only do at 10K, but I was ready to not care cause I'm doing my own oil changes. All they did was tire rotation and fluid check (filled washer fluid).

I had mineral spots on my windshield when I first got the ORP. I ended up using a white vinegar solution on the exterior of the windshield, followed up with Rain-X 2-in-1 cleaner, "rain repellent" and microfiber clothes. Did the trick.

Nothing in the books require you to take it to a dealership. Find yourself a good local shop to do basic service and tire rotations.

These trucks are so brand new and have such low service time on them, there really is not anything to do other than the basic oil change and check fluids. You don't need a dealership for that. Just keep your records and receipts.

I enter the oil changes that I've done myself on the Toyota Owners' portal. When I brought my ORP in for 5K/6 month last week, the service "greeter" said "oh, looks like we changed your oil already" and I had to tell them those were mine.

just depends on the dealer.

mine used 1 of 2 free oil changes at 1200 miles. i will use my last free one at 4k miles. they use the free ones if they are available no matter the model of new toyota i buy from them.

they dont care, all they see is i get to paying status faster. and yes i have them do my oil changes. and yes they havent screwed anything up in 20+ years worth of oil changes between the 2014 4runner, 2016 taco, 2018 tundra, 2023 tundra, 2025 4runner.

and they have an open bay at the very front that you can watch them as they do the oil changes from any angle (front, sides, rear) and yes i do watch them randomly from time to time.

I will try this for my windshield. I feel smearing only happens during rain and noticeable at night for sure. Thanks

Yes definitely depends on the dealer. You are fortunate to have found a good dealership with good car mechanics. I think in Jersey, 4R and Land Cruiser are not as readily seen as west coast or CO. May be we have techs focus more on highlanders and Rav 4 in Jersey.
