Any known good dealers in the California - Bay Area region that won't rip me off on labor for the TRD Lift Kit?

OK, I just got quoted $1890 from my local reputable 4x4 shop. That's probably as good as it gets for the Bay Area. The only downside is Toyota isn't doing it, but it's the same TRD KIT, so shouldn't be an issue.

Total for kit and install is $4,488.76
Kit = 2598.76 shipped to me
Labor = $1890.00

If it's not installed by an auth'd Toyota dealer, it can void your warranty on many expensive components if something goes wrong.

There is a Toyota mandated price for install, you just have to push the right dealer to look it up properly instead of quoting you a flat shop rate.

Note that the kit includes new axles and knuckles so that is not quite it. (And the axle removal means a drain of the front diff - which is probably worth doing anyway.)
I could probably have done it myself but decided the personal time saved and having it installed with warranty protection by a dealer made sense for me. And dealer has the tools to do the Safety Sense 3.0 adjustments for the height change and alignment included. Check out the installation guide posted in the thread I linked in response to the OP above.

Well had no idea you got axles and Knuckles as part of the kit. That's quite extensive I wonder why they are giving us axles and knuckles.? Is that telling us that what we have is inadequate?

I think it's a bit of over-engineering to make sure they aren't breaking their own stuff and some of it is inadequate.

The top hat has seen problems (3 actual known failures in the wild) and Toyota has quietly replaced the aluminum top hat on the 6th gen Tacoma with a steel top hat on the 4Runners.

I think without the upgraded axles and knuckles you need to drop the diff to keep the CV angle from being marginal with a 2.5" lift. (That is what was recommended to me by a shop I went to for estimate on the OME MT64 kit) The longer/beefier axle handles the angle better. But this is just a guess. Photos of the parts in the kit (and a list of the parts from the install guide) available in that other thread.

Yes that makes total sense I have not been tracking this kind of a lift. I only went to 2 in, and that was a coil lift from all dogs off road and I utilized my red Bilstein shocks. I'm pretty happy with the results it's a very Stout solid ride. Good for my needs. And I'm still running my factory Michelin LTX tires cuz I'm mostly on the street. Down the road I'll get a different set of tires. I live on the coastal area and there are not many off-road areas nearby I hit the mountains maybe twice a year, and I wonder if I even made the right decision by going with a off-road package, as I very seldom use my locker or four wheel high or low! But I do like the orp features and that was one of the main sell points for me going into this.
