Looking for a 6th gen TRD off-Road premium without the moonroof… just a month ago, you could find them everywhere.. now, there aren’t any to be found and it looks like all the new allocation builds have them added… how many of you out there don’t want a moonroof or specifically bought your without it and why?
I don’t want it because.. I don’t fit with it (6’-4”) and I don’t want to worry about a random rock (AZ) breaking it.. plus the extra cost for insurance

I didn't want it but we could only find a TRDORP in Everest with the sunroof. I never use them, don't want leaks in the future, and am annoyed I had to pay extra for it. 🤷‍♂️

We have the top trim 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe that forced us to get a sunroof which we did not want and would not use.

We have opened it 4-5 times... only at night while returning from a hike. Have no interest in having the sun bake the top of our heads.

We bought our 2026 Ice Cap ORP (non-hybrid) in late December. We found very few available non-hybrids without a moonroof.

Finally found one, dealer trucked it in next day from out-of-state for free.

Reasons for not wanting a moonroof include:

-Won't use
-Unwanted expense
-Leaks
-Rattles
-Exploding glass
-Reduced headroom
-More heat into the interior

While I wasn't against a having moonroof, I certainly would have considered going without one if it saved me some money. But that wasn't an option.

My dealership (Northeast) told me they typically only see SR5s w/o moonroofs and any premium or higher trim is going to have them 99% of the time "in our region". I do recall them specifically saying in our region, which gave me the impression that it may vary in other areas.

I love not having a moonroof on my red ORP. something that I wasn’t looking to go without, but just was it built out that way and had to fire because they were going fast. Glad I was forced into it! Way better on those hotter front range 90 degree days. Our Honda feels like a sauna even with the moonroof covered.

Not wanted here. Save $$$$, don’t have to deal with leaking, another point of failure outside the warranty. Also, having had them previously, we just don’t use it.

That was one of my few requirements when I was looking. Mainly because the glass randomly shadders, expensive to replace, eventually leak and I'd never use it. I don't see any value in it.

I like them. I'm a tall guy so I still fit but just barely. I can't use it all the time because I live in Chicago but when it's nice out, it's open a lot. I just wish Toyota could drop the seat height an inch or two more and the same with the steering wheel.

dropping the seat down will cause people to sit with the legs is a more straight up position. If you driven the last gen Tacoma; you would understand. The bench seating position in that truck was one of the major complains about owners that they fixed in the latest gen by raising the seats. Sunroofs eliminate 1-2 inches of head room with the frame.

I (6'1") prefer not having it, not only for the extra head room, but also the lack of sun roof drains that will clog and dribble water into your interior.

on a plus side I've seen with other brands people fitting their Starlink mini in the sunroof.

I didn’t want it but could never find a ORP without one. Fast forward to now. Super happy to have it, it has made installing and remove a rtt much easier as 2 of the bolt are accessible via the moonroof.

I did not want and care for it. Luckily I want the Trail Hunter. After all it is an off road vehicle will be the last thing I wanted is the sun roof. One wrong move on the trail and Houston we have an issue. One wrong move, one rock are all it takes and you are looking at a hefty bill. Less opening and closing especially top of the roof is better. Don’t have to worry about leak or anything.

I am big and 6' 2". I have the moonroof in my '25 ORP. I like it in Winter and keep the shade cover closed in Summer cause the Sun is too hot. I rarely open the moonroof itself. I don't have a problem with headroom or having my seat adjusted comfortably.
