Update, I filed a safety complaint here. The noise is obnoxious and no sign of it going away, Toyota seems clueless. I guess we'll see what happens.
I filed one also. Honestly reading the tundra issues and their wait times I am thinking I might need to switch vehicles as I think I am gonna be dealing with this noise for months[/QUOTE]

What part of the Country do you live in ? Reason I asked because I drove mine to Florida and let it site for 4 days and heard a little bit of squeal backing out, But when I got home to the Midwest I have not noticed it, I have owned other cars that squealed when backing out before when left sitting for awhile may be humidity may cause this ?

TRD Jon mentioned humid might be a reason. I am in south Florida it’s really humid. Tbh I feel like my hands are tied. From reading about this, seems to be going on for at least 2 years. I really wish Toyota would have but a warning to consumers before purchase. I feel like I bought a used car lol and can’t figure out what to do now. I do have a TAC case open with the dealer. I’ve complained to Toyota about 5 times different case numbers and I complained on nhts website…

Change the brake pads & rotors in the front first to rule out the rear brakes causing the noise. Use Akebono or Direct Import (O'Reilly Auto Parts) pads & Direct Import rotors. Save your receipts & hope for a class action lawsuit or reimbursement from Toyota. If still making noise change the rear pads & rotors.

I've heard from a local dealership service dept. that Toyota's “new generation” of brakes uses new materials that are causing the problem & using the previous generation pads & rotors fixes the issues. Take it with a grain of salt though.

I thought I should post a video of what my brakes sound like so anyone watching this thread can hear it themselves.

The warranty claims go nowhere as they state there’s no performance or safety issues.

I can’t believe they say that when they sound like this. This can’t be safe long term…

I told Toyota it is a safety issue. The noise is affecting my ability to safely backup because I unintentionally trying not to use the brakes to reduce the loud god dam noise. So that’s safe…… ?

I might open another warranty claim and try that. I have to brake quick to avoid the noise, and that is not safe.

I mentioned that not even an old used car should sound like this, and especially not a new car.

Even if I believe them that there’s no current safety issue, I couldn’t get them to tell me it would be safe after thousands of miles or a few years. Something is getting worn out prematurely with how loud it is.

Also if you google tundra brake squeal you will see other people talking about the same thing. Even worse if you have Facebook just do a random search for Toyota brake squeal. Tons of lc250 people same issue all of us feeling the same. At this point it’s like how long before a fix is issued. I am gonna bring it up again at my 5k check in another month. I’ll Ask about using different rotors and brake pads like the person above mentioned.

I tried contacting them again, and basically got told they are not doing anything. Even after seeing the new videos with the noise getting worse.

My best bet is to try to show the dealership in person (again) at the 5000 mile service.

I got the impression that they received many complaints, but more people contacting them through the brand engagement website will increase the visibility at corporate.

I took delivery of my 2025 4 Runner at the end of April. My first Toyota. The delivery driver (bought out of state) said the brake sound would go away - new pads he said. Two months later I take it to my local dealer b/c the sound is unchanged. Same as both videos posted. They said nothing they can do. They will call me in two or three months when Toyota tells them how to fix it. Great, they designed a car with a design flaw, that they now can't fix. I put in some kind of complaint with Toyota. Asked them to fix it or come pick it up b/c I'm tired of screeching brakes every time I drive with no end in sight. Hard to believe this is a Toyota product; had heard so many good things. At least I found a nickname for my car - the Banshee (Thanks for the thread/posts). Back to my Subaru - 130,000 miles and not one issue - and doesn't sound like a child learning the clarinet every time I brake.

Good for Toyota at least for admitting they have a problem

Yes but if they have had a known defect since March (this thread and others indicate they have been submitting a TAS? TSB? to Toyota b/c the dealers can't fix since March 25). How do they know they are 2-3 months from a solution / Curious how they know 2-3 months? If it was waiting on parts and that will take 2-3 months - makes sense - then presumably they would they say we are waiting on parts and it will take 2-3 months. But if you have a problem that you are working on since March 25 - how do you know you are going to have a solution in 2-3 months? Any engineers or folks in this world that might know? Or is this their hope/guess/best way to get me to go away on a Friday? Next question - how are vehicles being sold in this manner? Is there no quality control? For my vehicle, It happens EVERY time in reverse. Not once in a while. Every single time. I have tried every means to avoid making the sound while reversing. It seems from comments on this thread, a youtube video I watched from someone etc. that this is happening to others in their 2025 4 Runner EVERY single time they reverse. How can anyone that knows anything about cars hear that noise and think "sounds good, sell this one vs. WTF?"

Some people have been saying dealers stated the pads have to much metal, and changed them.

Just bought a 4Runner for my son, gets his license next week... what should be a happy time has turned into so much stress. Really feel deceived especially after finding this page and seeing the issues date back to March. As soon as we got the car home (in FL), every morning we back out and the brakes make the LOUDEST screeching noise you've ever heard... contacted sales rep at dealership and sent him video, he said that it isn't right and to bring it in, took it back, sat in service dept for almost a week, no fix, no resolution, I'm told nothing is wrong with the brakes and the manager actually said to "deal with it"... unacceptable. This car never should have been sold to us. And I'm very discouraged to see that all of you have reached out directly to Toyota with no resolution. Why are the cars still on the lot and being sold with this known issue??!!
