Just wanted to note here, because I saw someone post somewhere that their insurance company suggested they needed to get the Tag system - I got the same line from my insurance company and when I said I installed the Ghost immobilizer, that was acceptable to them as well. It just has to be a...
See the other posts in this thread, it is possible to program a new key for a car without cloning the original. It takes a bit longer so it's not usually the first choice of thieves, but it can be done.
This used to be true, because for some insane reason, Kia and Hyundai never included factory immobilizers (like every other car manufacturer) until 2022/2023. The incredible amount of thefts finally forced them to add immobilizers to the latest models.
The Toyota multimedia system is trash, designed solely to get you to subscribe for features, be it siriusXM or Toyota's own lackluster subscription services. I feel like this update will only move things further in the wrong direction.
How much for the TAG? I chose the ghost because most of those tracking systems have an ongoing subscription fee you need to pay for. was your insurance company unwilling to recognize the Toyota tracking system that's built into every 4runner? The subscription for this is free for the first...
Install an autowatch ghost II. the only way they can take it is on a flatbed, which makes it much less likely. it's certified by insurance companies so you'd prob get a discount on your rates.
Built-in immobilizer does nothing if they use a key relay attack or reprogram the 4runner to accept a new key they can use to take the car. You need a third party solution like Autowatch Ghost II (insurance certified), it will cost about a grand to put in but ain't no-one gonna start that car...
I didn't bother even putting a deposit down, i just checked all dealers (within my search radius) inventory every morning and as soon as the one came up that fit my specs I contacted the dealer immediately. Instead of waiting for a year like the dealers said it would take if i put a deposit, I...
It takes a bit longer than key cloning, but thieves can program the vehicle to accept a new key (ie. if they can't read your fob they can just program a new key in a couple minutes). There are videos of locksmiths doing this on youtube, they can generate new fobs pretty quickly.
@juan mesa Have you seen this before? Possibly they got your info from ServiceOntario employees that are on the take...

I provided a link to the manufacturer and product page where it tells you (as I did in another post) that you need a professional installer to install it, and it will direct you to your local installers. I'm not sure what you want from me, lol, I can't provide anything more. There is no...
