We are discussing the 2.4L turbo here, as in the 6th gen. Not sure if the recommendations and findings for other engines are relevant or are they?

How's everyone's MPG stats looking lately?

Been driving a lot of city lately so i've been TRYING to drive a lot less aggressive with the heavy foot I have. Coming from a 5th gen, it's been getting hard to not push it a little bit with the low end torque we get now with the 6th gen.

I'm averaging around 19-19.5 city right now. Been driving in ECO, and usually always have the AC on.

It seems like based on this thread and numerous videos on youtube that 19-20 is basically the standard.

I read that 24MPG is achievable on a highway run. I assume that it will normalize after break-in and an oil change. Of course, the right foot behavior has a huge impact too

Completely off topic - I'd love to see a V6 Hybrid Max engine in the 4Runner like the Sequoia. Unnecessary but cool. I am a fan of larger engines although I have used a 4 cylinder 2.0 twin turbo ford for almost 11 years without an issue.

I’m not getting as good as the rest of everyone else but I think it’s because of my heavy foot that I developed with my 3rd Gen Tacoma.

I’m used to having to put my foot into the pedal to keep up with the flow of traffic on the Interstate and I’ve noticed I look down in the 4Runner and I’m going 85+ without realizing it lol

I’m at about 300 miles and get between 17-18 but most of my driving has been on the highway. Im sure it will level out once I stop pushing the pedal down as much as I’m used to.

Still getting about 21-22 mpg combined here. Impressive for how large and heavy this vehicle is especially given how I live in a hilly area. To shame my old 2020 Subaru Outback I used to have, I’m averaging better mpg so far with the 4R.

At 18.8 with 1900 miles on it. Was getting 20.8. The last 600 miles on this road trip 90% highway it’s dropped. Likely culprit is the 275/70R18 E rated wild peak AT4s which are heavier than stock. The other factor could be driving so much with cruise control and lane assist. Not sure how that effects it.

Cruise control maximizes fuel efficiency so that was helping. The new tires definitely decreased MPG due to increased friction with the road at highway speeds.

Agreed. Only reason I mentioned it was due to the fact it often being set higher than what I was actually going because someone was in front of me going slower so it seemed like it was always waiting to accelerate.

I'm at 900 miles and 17.3 avg... Mostly city. Most highway trips I take end up being 20 mpg or higher, so not sure how the overall avg is so low. Still breaking it in, but was hoping for 20. I find myself spooling the turbo up a lot by accident. It's just way more fun to drive than my lifted 5th gen. Just filled it up with 93 octane yesterday which supposedly gives it a power and efficiency bump. We shall see...
