I love the ride on highways, prefer it to the cars I've had. It's super smooth, tracks straight as an arrow and is very stable. The upgraded seats on the Premium are also very comfortable IMO. Couldn't be happier with it on the highway. Towing my 5000 pound boat+trailer is no sweat though it is...
Same here, my mpg sucked for a few thousand miles. Since 3-4k I am getting 20.3 all around and can hit 26mpg on highway trips if I keep it under 65. I am running stock tires and spoiler, yours I'd expect to shave 1 mpg or so with the tires and spoiler delete.
I drive gravel and dirt roads to access mountain bike trails and my opinion is the ride on those surfaces is good and like that it handles them way better than my Subaru. On local roads, the ride is just rougher/firmer/whatever than what I'm used to coming from a sedan which is only natural. I...
I have 5500 miles on a sport prem. Came from a Passat and WRX which are relatively sporty and well composed cars so take my thoughts in that light.
Road characteristics- Highway is fantastic. Smooth, solid and better than the cars it replaced. My terrible local roads were a surprise because it...
Yes, I didn't notice it until end of a drive in the rain recently. I guess it was silent for a while then started with the noise because I didn't notice it until later in the drive. Haven't run them since but it was strangely loud as I recall.
I am towing a 5,000+ boat and the truck handles it easily. I have the tow package but haven't configured it yet. Towed it all around last weekend, mostly flat terrain.
I emailed them a few weeks ago about Gen6 products and the reply was:
"Thank you for reaching out to us.
Our products are currently under manufacturing phase (Overseas Factory) with no ETA's.
Please check back in the next 3-5 months."
I have managed to own 2 different Gen6 4Runners (long story). Had the stock Toyota system in the first truck and it was fine with half of my music library (streamed from Tidal) and the other half sounded sounded off with whacky EQ. Traded that back and now have a Sport Premium with the JBL...
No need for special cool down. I remember this question coming up on forums when I owned a WRX. That motor had a passive cooling loop that was supposed to move oil through the turbo using convection after the motor was off. I drove that car with vigor for 260,000 miles with zero issues and I did...
Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm going to be pulling a 4500lb boat with mine shortly. Will also be backing into a super tight boat yard and hoping SPA will help.
It is the Pre-Collision System "PCS" feature you are experiencing. I had the same complaint. You can change sensitivity of it or turn it off via "Settings" in the dashboard.
TRD Sport with about 600 miles. 87 octane. On the highway I get 25.5mpg keeping it between 65-70mph. Drops quickly over 70. Will go up over 26mpg if I keep it at or below 65mph.
There are no discounts. I found a dealer in NJ that had 2 on the lot. Told me over the phone and email that there was a $2000 discount on a TRD Sport Premium. So I show up there, test drive the thing then sit down to talk numbers and they tell me nothing they posted on their website, said over...
Cruise control maximizes fuel efficiency so that was helping. The new tires definitely decreased MPG due to increased friction with the road at highway speeds.
My requirement is a family vehicle that can tow 5000 lbs (a boat) and that was about it. Which they all satisfy. Once I realized a 4Runner would be the best option to install a front mount hitch receiver for boat yard and ramp maneuvering I was sold. Wranglers are also good for front mount...
@dirtwheeler I'm in agreement with your analysis and overall conclusion.
I just get frustrated because as I'm shopping it against vehicles like the Traverse, Explorer, Pilot I see that I can easily get what seems like a lot more... leather, premium sound, panoramic sunroof, etc. for thousands less.
