New Member/ Oil Analysis: 2026 4Runner Hybrid @ 1,370 miles

I'm new here and figured I'd post my oil analysis on my 2026 4 Runner Limited Hybrid.

The oil was changed at 1,370 miles and the vehicle was driven in a mix of city and highway. If you're interested in the results, I plan to resample at around 4,000 miles to see how the new oil is doing. When I changed it, I went with 5W-20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.

I plan to continue with the analysis to see how the 0W-20 and 5W-20 weights do in these machines with the turbos and auto start and stop. I live in Arizona so the temps should put the oil to the test.

In the first analysis the factory fill was already below grade in viscosity. Maybe because it's new and still breaking in but time will tell.

I did my first oil change at 500 miles on my Trailhunter and also used Blackstone for my oil analysis. I followed the advice of The Motor Oil Geek on YT as well as the Care Care Nut.

What I find interesting is that my oil was pretty much across the board worse off than the first report in that thread even though that change was done at 7700 miles. Not sure if that's an argument for or against more frequent oil changes than Toyota recommends.

For me it seems to have been a good choice to do an earlier change but the one done at 7700 miles looked really good, so seemed like it was unnecessary to do an earlier change on that engine. Maybe just comes down to small differences during engine construction. Maybe mine was assembled on a Monday. Anyone my age will get that reference. Yours seems closer to my results but mostly still better. Thanks for sharing.

This is a good verifiable example of why an early 1st oil change and regular changes by 5,000 miles are good ideas on a turbo engine.
