I’m more concerned with length than width. My 5th gen just barely fits in my standard 3 car garage from a length standpoint. I have two trash cans at the back of my garage that I park in front of. I’m guessing that if I want to park the 6th gen in my garage that I’m going to have to find a new place for my trash cans. First world problems I guess.

If you do an overlay of a couple different trims, it looks like the mirror width is still inside (or in line with) the width of the body even when they're fully opened... and it looks like the only thing wider on the pro are the tires and wheel flares. I laid a Platinum on top of a Pro and the body width and mirror width were identical (except for the wider wheel flares). It would make sense then that the 79.9" width dimension on the pro is from the outer edges of the flares, and since the mirrors stay inside that width even when fully open, the maximum width would be 79.9" regardless of the mirrors. I'm thinking maybe the additional width of the Tundra is because mirrors are wider with a full sized truck (for towing) and that's where the 86" comes from on those. This would also mean that the 78" width dimension for the other 4Runner trims is also the max width because again the mirrors make no difference since they don't ever get any wider than the body... although from a front perspective they might be just outside the body width of the Platinum (but that would still only put the max width somewhere around 80"). And of course this is just based on photos from the website so it would still need to be verified in the real world.

if i remember correctly. the width stated in brochures doesnt include the mirrors, just the body on the bof vehicles.

I have a two door garage and my Trailhunter fits fine, with a couple of inches to spare for the mirrors out on either side. I always back it in and need to have the mirrors out because it is so close.

If you get a chance would you be able to measure your max width, one with the mirrors open and one with them folded in. Might take 2 people and probably has to be done from inside the car. You can solve the mystery for the rest of us!

My Garage door is 90" wide with a 3/4" weatherstripping all the way around.

The Trailhunter, with the mirrors out is about 85" wide at the mirrors.

Very little room when backing it in.

i think technically toyota measures the widest part of the main body excluding the mirrors per the federal rules

Marker lights for vehicle width are based on the body's overall width, not the mirrors, for vehicles 2032 mm (80 inches) or wider. The rule requires two front and rear clearance markers at the widest points of the vehicle's body, plus three front identification markers horizontally centered on the vehicle.

hence why the ford raptors requires the lights since they are way past 80 inches, it just doesnt specify location of the centered 3 lights, so ford put them in the front grille

Mirrors are definetly the widest part of the vehicle
