Care to take a guess how much that would cost, to convert two doors to one. I just received two quotes for that exact project so that when I store my boat in my garage, I have more than two inches on each side of my trailer wheels. Anyways, take a guess. If I had a two-car garage with a center pillar, I'd buy a TRD OR instead of a Pro, and use the leftover money to convert my two garage doors into one.![]()
In Hampton Roads? Probably the cost of an entire brand new SR5 LOLCare to take a guess how much that would cost, to convert two doors to one. Nah, not that much. $14K to remove two existing 8' headers and the center column, then adding a 20' header and installing a 20' door. No thanks. I will just be very careful backing my boat into my garage and apply that $14K to my TRD Sport Premium that shipped out of Japan on the 5th. Can't Wait.In Hampton Roads? If you get a chance would you be able to measure your max width, one with the mirrors open and one with them folded in. Might take 2 people and probably has to be done from inside the car. You can solve the mystery for the rest of us!I have a two door garage and my Trailhunter fits fine, with a couple of inches to spare for the mirrors out on either side. I always back it in and need to have the mirrors out because it is so close.
My Garage door is 90" wide with a 3/4" weatherstripping all the way around. If you get a chance would you be able to measure your max width, one with the mirrors open and one with them folded in. but interior wise the tacoma has more hip room (+1in vs 4R) and head room (higher 4R trims are -1in). but when you actually sit in them, the tacoma feels more cramped at least to me and the wife.
the shoulder and leg room is identical across all trims for the tacoma/4R
There's our answer! Thanks kayleigh. My garage is a side-entry and I have about 92" so the question for me (and a lot of us) was, will it be kinda tight or reeeeally tight or even impossible depending on what Toyota's dimensions were based on and where the mirrors sit relative to the body. Would you say ear-to-ear the open mirrors are still slightly wider than the body, or are the wheel flares actually the widest point? My Garage door is 90" wide with a 3/4" weatherstripping all the way around.
The Trailhunter, with the mirrors out is about 85" wide at the mirrors.
Very little room when backing it in.
i think technically toyota measures the widest part of the main body excluding the mirrors per the federal rulesThere's our answer! Thanks kayleigh. hence why the ford raptors requires the lights since they are way past 80 inches, it just doesnt specify location of the centered 3 lights, so ford put them in the front grilleMarker lights for vehicle width are based on the body's overall width, not the mirrors, for vehicles 2032 mm (80 inches) or wider. The rule requires two front and rear clearance markers at the widest points of the vehicle's body, plus three front identification markers horizontally centered on the vehicle.
Mirrors are definetly the widest part of the vehicleThere's our answer! Thanks kayleigh.
