Yep. Unfortunately there's not a lot of battery capacity so anytime you're idling in AZ Jun-Aug, the electric motor can only go for a few minutes on its own (if that). The gas engine has to run if you want to keep the AC cranking. Definitely more of an issue for me because I do a lot of work...
100
100% about the temp. I'm in AZ and MPG really takes a hit once it gets hot here and we need to crank the AC. That and if you're in the car a lot just parked and idling. The combination of the two keeps my avg down between 18-19 mpg even though my actual driving mpg is probably more like 22mpg.
Turns out that my speedometer discrepancy is more of a Google Maps/Apple Carplay issue. If I use the GPS speed on Google Maps using Carplay, the speedo reads appx 3% slower than the Toyota speedo. If I use Google Maps on my phone or iPad without routing through Carplay, the two speedos match...
I put bigger tires on my Platinum for the same reason and wanted to keep the road manners too (with the least affect possible on mpg)... went with Cooper Discoverers and the lighter TRD wheels and they've been awesome. After upsizing to 265/70/r18, my speedo, like yours, also seems to be reading...
That's a really good point. If that's the case, the factory calibration is a significant difference. I'm just using Google Maps, so it's not 100% accurate but the speedo has consistently displayed 3-3.5% faster than GPS since day 1. Maybe GPS through Google is also off a little.
I think I'd be happy with that with Es. Is that based on the dash gauge or are you doing the math manually? Also curious about the speedometer calibration on the Trailhunter... was it accurate with stock and how is it now with the 275s?
That's great info! I'd be curious to compare with other 6g owners running larger tires. I was definitely hoping for more than 18.5 mpg so thats why I'm trying to see how the numbers might be affected by the tire size. I had the bigger tires installed before I ever drove the vehicle so I never...
Slowly climbed to 18.5mpg after appx 5,000 miles. I went from 31.5" tires to 32.6" so I think (think) that throws off the calc and the actual mpg is closer to 21mpg. Tire/wheel setup is larger but appx 20lbs lighter overall. Skid plate added (24lbs), air dam removed. 50/50 mix of city/hwy but I...
Thanks! That's 3 people now that confirmed there are two sets of different sizes and one fits:) Maybe the person who responded to me from 4RunnerLifestyle just didn't know what he was talking about. Anyway, the difficulty reaching someone, inaccurate/confusing info, and a couple other...
Are there any other options people are using similar to 4runnerLifstyle? I've found it very difficult to reach their customer service. I also got mixed info from them re the rattle fix kit. I asked them if they could tell me which sizes they send out because it's very confusing and right now we...
Thanks for the info. I didn't even know they send two sets. If they would've had that in the description, or listed any dimensions, or didn't say "Does not fit the Limited...." etc, I would've ordered them right away, ha! Like the OP said, it doesn't have to be this confusing. Anyway, I gave up...
Has anyone with a 6G Limited or Platinum tried the ones from 4Runner Lifestyle yet? On the site it says "Does not fit the Limited, TRD Off-Road, or Off-Road Premium". I tried two sizes from YotaExpedition but they were both too big. I have the Platinum and the holes are 13mm x 13mm.
Just make sure you also order the hardware kit. It's just 6 bolts but they have to be ordered separately (you'll only have 4 bolts if you have the OEM plastic protector). It's PTR60-89252 for the Aluminum TRD Pro or PT228-89255 for the TrailHunter Steel.
This should still be on Toyota and other vehicle manufacturers. Construction companies can't account for every angle the sun will reflect off of every window, radiant barrier, and reflect surface of the building.... or how those angles will change throughout the year... or where cars might be...
That might be part of my issue. I'm up to a 32.6" tire. I don't know of any way to recalibrate the system either...no obd option that I'm aware of. There are other ways to track the mpg, I think obd Fusion and a couple others will do live monitoring using mass air flow. Probably best to just do...
Same here. What are you using to track mpg? I'm beginning to think (hope) that the meter in the hyb is a little off. I'm parked an idling a lot, so I might take a big hit there. If I watch the dynamic gauge as I'm driving, it's usually up around 20mpg but I can't get the static/average bar over 17.
