What Brand of oil and filter is used in shipped 6th gen 4Runners?

As for what oil is put in at the factory, I don't know and not sure anyone knows outside of Toyota.

Toyota uses a blend formulated by Mobil 1 and a filter made by Denso

always go with denso, toyota has a majority stake in that part manufacturer

plus if you look at parts on any toyota most of them are denso branded.

and not just toyota, other major japanese auto oem's use denso

Their oil is OK. As for a filter I like high end ones like Purolator Boss, Mobile 1, K&N… Filtration is very important and cheap filter like the Made in Thailand Denso (Toyota) is beneath the demands of this engine, IMO. The 4Runner comes with made in Japan filter, but when you go to the dealer to buy a replacement, they give you the Thai cheapy.

Mobil 1 0w-20 ESPx2 is a very good oil for turbo engines like ours. It can be purchased on sale on Amazon and in Walmart.

I went with their 0w20 hybrid blend. We’ll see if their emulsifier claim is accurate or not.
