Looking to get a dashcam installed. I have an old Garmin that I used on my Tacoma, but it seems I can't use it because of the angle of the windshield.

What do you use on yours? If you have links and pictures, that would be awesome!!!

Thanks

Since I didn't pay for it, the factory one has actually been pretty good. I like it tracks parking incidents, and the action mode off-roading was a nice touch as well. Granted any aftermarket ones can do the same if you wire them right. So, maybe this comment didn't really help. Like the one @Nodak is using, I've heard great things about Viofo.

did the factory dashcam come with the vehicle ??? if it did, you paid for it. its a $499 line item on the window sticker.

if someone gave it to you free, good for you. i personally wouldnt pay $500 for the oem dashcam. for $200 less i can get a dashcam that does more.

I got the OEM dash cam. I wish toyota give us a software upgrade enabling all the camera built in to the car to use it as a dash cam, just like the new RAV4

@Nodak Was a line item for sure, but I paid $4600 under MSRP, so I guess it was technically "free". That covered all my adds and destination.

Best Dash Cams 2026: Buyer’s Guide

Vortex Radar is an excellent source to see the actual difference multiple dashcams, and he's not paid by manufacturers to review their products. Viofo has consistently come out on top, I've had two (A229 and A329) and can confirm they work excellent.

i am suspecting it wont happen. the new RAV4 has TSS 4.0, so its going to be a hardware limitation, not just software.

since the 4R has TSS 3.0 it will be missing the storage capability of TSS 4.0 to store the video feeds of the camera's.

Seems Fitcamx is coming out with updated cams with the new Sony Starvis 2 sensor providing greatly improved image quality over the old cams. I myself will wait for the newer Starvi 2 cams. I have written to Fitcamx to see whjen the new cams will be out. Will update this if I get any more information.

Damn, I ended up returning my Fitcamx for a Vantrue cam with the Starvis 2 sensor. I would've preferred the OEM fit of the Fitcamx but the camera quality with the Starvis 2 is undeniably better.
